Well saying nothing would leave your post count at a big fat zero.

If I see new members or members that have few posts to their name I bump their threads to give them air time.

That's great, I do try to make an effort to speak to newer members as well but I think it's unfair to say you need to "cosy" up to one of the favourites to get noticed it makes the place sound like some type of a cartel and it's simply not true either (whoever the favourites are) I think most of our regular members here love to see good and interesting new members and like to speak to new people, it's what forums are about really

I've seen new members blamed for the apparent sundering of this forum. We will disagree I know that but it's just my opinion.

Yeah I've seen that too from a handful of members but that's always happened and always will, every year on here (and other forums) you always get people talking about how great it was in the good old days and how crap the new members are but I think for the most part, new members are welcomed and wanted on here

Listen I don't know what this place was like a couple of years ago. Maybe it was better, maybe people like me are to blame for this forum going down the ****ter.

One thing I do know is that this forum needs a private sub forum, hidden away from non members or those that aren't involved where people can thrash out their differences. Things get deleted and tempers simmer and nobody knows what's going on. I don't know about you but if people genuinely thought I was a reason this forum was losing its flair I'd want to know about it,

Jake. 07-11-2013 11:56 AM

Tbh it's what you make of it, get involved in games, chat a bit more, talk about the things you like and chat with others with similar interests and you'll find it more worthy to log on everyday

Glenn. 07-11-2013 11:58 AM

I'm fed up with posts being deleted tbh :idc:

It's been discussed before but it's always decided that it wouldn't be a good idea and would end up spilling all over the forum or involving people who don't want to be involved or used as a place just to get away with insulting people

SM,You are great fun on this forum,it's nice to be able to chat and joke with people ,TIBB to me is pretty much the same as it's always been and I've been her since 2009,no way have you made it go down the ****ter as you call it:joker::joker: now wheres my tenner?

I understand why things are deleted or closed because sometimes it completely derails the thread and turns into a slagging match.

I just wish there was a better way than 'let's delete everything and sweep it all under the carpet' because nothing gets resolved and people think the other person is being protected.

Things can always be discussed further on pm. Sometimes it helps to resolve issues.

Glenn. 07-11-2013 12:09 PM

The post Jesus just made was a perfectly valid opinion. It's stuff like this that gets to me. It's like we can't have an opinion on something if it upsets the apple cart. We don't seem to be able to express our view for fear of upsetting someone.

That's the culture around here now.

When jealous people try to tear down every game you appear in, then it's easier not to bother anymore - for everyones sake.

Jemal 07-11-2013 12:12 PM

Nothing really depressed me online tbh..
Only a couple members annoy me.. Wouldn't say i get depressed about anything on here.
But one thing that does get to me so much is how members who have been here for a while keep on saying how good TIBB was before.. And imo it just brings down the current crop of new members (who joined from June to now).
that gets to me a lot im not gonna lie. It pisses me off abit.

I also think that +1 -1 game is dire now.

I agree,we are adults not kids(well most of us):hugesmile:It's frustrating being censored all the time, but I suppose it's hard to strike a happy medium.

What about a social group? Open to anyone who chooses to join and a few rules like no personal insults, digs at personal life or what have you and it does not leave the group.

It's away from the forum.

I wouldn't take personally. Everyone who's a member will have times they enjoy more and times they enjoy less. It's more to do with all people around, and not just new members.

AnnieK 07-11-2013 12:17 PM

My OH is on a forum where pretty much anything goes....its not always pretty or nice but they seem to vent and then move on much more than on here at times. I don't think anyone wants all out war but its frustrating when, as adults, we are censored and made to feel like naughty school kids at times. (Well not me being the angel that I am obviously)...

It's pretty pointless - Social groups are terrible things anyway in my book. I've joined a couple, but then think what's the point and leave them. I don't like how messy they make my profile look either!!

When people are just willing to lie and spew out anything, then they avoid having to face their own actions anyway, because justification is better than reflection.

Anyone who knows me, will say I'm the first person to raise my hand and apologise when I know I'm wrong, but that doesn't work with everyone, and one-sided discussions about stuff is pretty meaningless.

In an adult forum ,that is how it should be ,I find it insulting when scraps of kids say the most revolting things and nothing is done if they are part of the golden gang, I would love a place where I could tell these people exactly what I think ,it should be mod free

Kyle 07-11-2013 12:27 PM

The only other way I can think of is where the posts are left for all to see but people accordingly punished for what they have said.

Obviously remove it if it's racist or hugely personal or inciting violence.

It's annoying when things are removed and people are like 'what did he say? What did she do?'

i think people take the net too seriously myself.
The net is the matrix in reality none of anything we say really matters that much anyway.

True, i suppose. It's just a bit of fun, isn't it? At least that's the way i see it.

Kyle 07-11-2013 12:34 PM

I don't know if this means much but what I've noticed is that members who previously quite often have been at loggerheads with each other are actually coming together to advocate a more open door policy.

It's not like it's the more placid members who likely don't get embroiled in disagreements that are for it, it's the people that are likely to be affected by it.

I think that says something myself although others may disagree of course.

Vanessa 07-11-2013 12:39 PM

This forum is still lot more open than Digital Spy. You can get banned for breathing in there. :joker:

Kazanne 07-11-2013 12:42 PM

Well I for one don't like to be told what I can say,but hopefully I have enough self control not to overly upset anyone,I would much rather talk through stuff than sit here seething that I cant put a point across,I can take some insults myself and hopefully others can too,it doesn't mean I hate anyone,I just disagree with them.

Exactly ,i believe if you dish stuff out, you have to expect to get it back, some are allowed to do that on here, others are not, it should one rule for everyone ,and Im quite capable of allowing people to speak their minds on me ,but they have to expect to get the same treatment back ,thats where a place we can go and let off steam without mods jumping in and infracting would be good for this forum ,would you in everyday life let someone keep sticking a knife in your back ? I wouldnt

yeah thats all forums are really chit chat bit of fun and learn a thing or two

people just need to realize a disagreement is not a attack its just a different opinion. and really what some stranger thinks of us doesn't matter in the real world anyway.
its like big brother we all like different people & sometimes disagree n things get abit loony lol but next season we might like the same people. suddenly yr friend is your hater and yr enemy is yr friend lol. cause basically none of it matters anyway.

I think the forum is more fun during on season. It's off season that people start to take things more seriously.

I've made a couple of really good friends on here, infact hope to meet up with them asap,so friendships can be made.

I am so sick of reading stuff like this as if allowing for an all out war is going to sort out the on going differences between certain members..well it's not.

There is no way at all that things will be kept in a private forum, we already see the same petty differences between members popping up in threads day after day and ruining them because the members in question just cant help but snipe at each other and refuse point blank for stupid reason to use the ignore function.

The sad thing is here most of the on going disagreements are between the mostly older members of the forum who I would have expected to be a bit more mature about online arguments tbqh, so if you all want to insult each other and tell each other what you really think then use the private messages option with a chance of a ban for it or go else where because most other members don't want to see it on the forum and couldn't really care at all about all your pointless arguments.
