True, but I'm sure the whole Nigela Lawson stuff could intrigue some more people than usual to the show.

Yep, I think it was up on the overnights of CBB11. So that's two days in a row which has been up on CBB11 despite launching slightly lower.

Jake. 07-01-2014 09:39 AM

I reckon we could be heading for a 2.9 million official average

At this rate, it could be possible. CBB11 added LOTS on timeshift (around 500k-700k sometimes), if CBB13 does the same it will be the highest rated series on Ch5 completely! But we need to see how the rest of this week goes first!

Yeah, I've got a feeling that the rest of the week will stay around the 2.5 mark, which would be fantastic! Still life in the old dog.

Hoping we get a fight night type episode that gets a high overnight, the equivalent of the Daleygate episodes last BB

JohnnyBB 07-01-2014 10:29 AM

How much is last nights show up on last year? :)

Brother Leon 07-01-2014 10:46 AM

Twitter was just full of people goin "OMG,Dappy" and people saying they will watch next time to see what the fuss is

Well from BB12/BB13- BB14 it climbed 300k.

CBB is a bit like a yoyo because of the two CBB series and being on at different times. Officials of CBB on Ch5:

CBB8- 2.8m
CBB9- 2.6m
CBB10- 2.2m (Summer)
CBB11- 2.81m
CBB12- 2.3m (Summer)

Hopefully the series we can get the magic 3.0m but if this was on channel 4 id expect this series to be 4+ million maybe more.

Just heard the radio dj talk about it on the radio, he said 'I haven't seen an episode yet but i've seen a clip online of Dappy making out with a duck, i can't believe i just said that sentence. I think i'm going to start watching'

I'm sure the ratings will just keep growing!

Me. I Am Salman 07-01-2014 01:41 PM

Today in college everyone was talking about it in lesson I was quite shocked lol. Also they all want the bores out

Jamesy 07-01-2014 01:53 PM

When I was driving yesterday the presenters on Kiss radio were giving Big Brother a mention and talking about how this series is 'better than you would expect'.

Luckily Big Brother seems to slowly be gaining interest again.

I work in a shop and the papers are by the till, and quite a lot of people were queuing and talking about the show while looking at the front of the Star. It's slowly starting to interest people again.

In overnights and including plus 1?

DigitalSid 07-01-2014 04:24 PM

As said, has done better than the equivalent night in CBB11 the last two nights, very good considering the slightly lower launch and first highlights show falling on a Saturday, hope it grows.

Yes, 1.91m without.

seanraff07 07-01-2014 04:54 PM

Very positive stuff

daniel-lewis-1985 07-01-2014 05:35 PM

I think the only way this series is going to be the highest rated is obviously if the episodes get solid ratings but like in CBB9 and CBB11 even BB14 where some big fight happened and made the ratings soar for a few nights bringing up the average.

We need something to happen that gets BB a 2.9/3m episode.

This year I cant really see any fights happening but I am enjoying how cheeky and outspoken the house is. Maybe after Wednesdays twist when the evictees return there may be some kick off but then that wont be aired till Saturday (the lowest rated day of the week).

The team really need to start thinking things through when it comes to their ratings.

I think even if it stays at 2.4m nightly, it could beat CBB8/CBB11 because the recent series have been timeshifting an average of 400k-500k now, so officially it would bring it to 2.8m-2.9m.

Samm 07-01-2014 06:02 PM

Everybody was talking about it today and going on YouTube and viewing the clip

Could it afford last Saturday to happen weekly? (Sorry, my maths is appalling. :joker: )

That's a good sign. Not sure if it will increase. A lot of people on FB are boycotting it because they are offended and a lot of new people will tune in, which will cancel each other out. Probably will stay at 2.4m

Sats always do worse and producers know that, and Sats actually add the most on time shift. I remember CBB11 Saturdays were adding around 700k in the officials. So the 1.86m for last Sat could equate to 2.5m officially anyway.

Josy 07-01-2014 06:32 PM

The radio presenter on Clyde 1 was talking about Dappy/CBB today, telling people to tune in!

Brother Leon 07-01-2014 06:35 PM

Whether you like Dappy or not, he's a very good signing. People would tune in just to see him make a fool of himself because they hate him or because they actually find him funny. Fair play to C5 for getting him.

daniel-lewis-1985 07-01-2014 06:38 PM

Dappy isn't being himself.

Hes talking to himself and to the cameras.

He is totally pantomime.

Josy 07-01-2014 06:39 PM

He is definitely keeping people watching though, getting them talking, people I know that normally laugh when BB is mentioned are actually watching this time.

For now anyway.

Wow how fickle are those people and how sad for tuning in to watch Dappy lol.

I think the boys a joke but each to their own.

As do most of the people I have just mentioned.

And it's not really sad is it? people will watch anything with a celeb making a fool of themselves, that's why shows like 'The stupidest celebrity moments from 2013' etc do so well.

I was unaware they were ratings winners.

How many viewers do they get?

Not exactly sure but some must watch them, they are made all the time.

Edit: 1.20 Million on Channel 5

That's some hardcore facts you got to backup your comment there lol.

EDIT: That's actually really good figures.

Glad you agree though Dappy is just a fake housemate who lietrally wears his foreskin on his head (foreskin being his floppy hats).

But to be fair if people tune in to watch him and it bumps up the ratings im happy.

Loukas 08-01-2014 01:32 AM

just read this on the guardian website..

Quote:

Although it was down on the 6 million-plus viewers who used to watch the show in its heyday on Channel 4, Celebrity Big Brother was more than double (107%) Channel 5's slot average over the past three months.
Source

and this on the Radio Times website..

Quote:

Celebrity Big Brother 13 ratings prove the show still has legs

Channel 5's latest line-up, which includes boxing legend Evander Holyfield, TOWIE star Sam Faiers, controversial columnist Liz Jones and N-Dubz bad boy Dappy, pulled in 3.4m viewers for Channel 5 at launch

You might think that Celebrity Big Brother should have been buried in a very deep hole along with the final episode of Lost and England’s hopes of ever winning a major football tournament at the end of the noughties – but love it or hate it… it still pulls in the punters.

OK, it doesn’t attract the 6 or 7 million for the launch show that the programme once did on Channel 4 in its heyday – but that said, 3.4 million viewers (15% share) for the opening exchanges of CBB 13 on Friday night proves the show still has legs on Channel 5 – some might even say it’s an inspired purchase by the commercial channel.

The numbers are up on the August edition of the show (as you would expect) and only a little down on last year's January run of the programme despite increasing competition.

Yes, CBB has to work a little harder than it used to for its punters in a world where every other show sees celebrities doing something far more energetic and exciting than just sitting in a house. (See Tom Daley’s Splash! tonight, and Channel 4’s upcoming The Jump; where Anthea Turner will face off against Tara Palmer Tomkinson at ski jumping in Austria. Alan Partridge, have you spoken to your lawyers?)

But CBB seems equal to the challenge.

The bookers have been working overtime for the 2014 run to attract a line-up that not only contains names that you don’t need an encyclopaedia of 80s pop music to recognise – but who potentially will clash at every juncture for our entertainment.

The added twist of modelling the whole house on the set of Eyes Wide Shut, and handcuffing unlikely pairings together (Liz Jones and Dappy from N Dubz/ Jim Davidson and, anyone) offers just enough ritual humiliation of the celebs to ensure the Great British public get their pound of flesh from the series.

Emma Willis’s almost seamless transition into Davina 2.0 (let’s forget the Brian Dowling thing ever happened) gives CBB 13 all the factors it needs to hold the best part of two million people for the next three weeks. (And of course keep the Daily Star’s front pages filled with gossip and titillation)

As long as it can do this – Channel 5 (and their advertisers) will stay happy… and just like many of the other regular reality shows we say “must” be ready to die (X Factor and BGT, recently signed for 3 more years on ITV) – it will stay with us for many series to come.

Remember, before you write it off… it’s not just Big Brother watching you - plenty of people are still watching him.
