That's pretty good, I thought it would be a big drop considering how negative comments on FB were about the launch. Last night was a good enough show to keep people hooked as well.

Will. 09-06-2016 10:02 AM

That's really impressive.

I honestly think the EU debate took viewers away, as did Love Island.

Watch BB fall tonight facing Love island.

It seems after last night that LI at 9pm and BB on at 10pm every day (bar evictions of course) should be what they must do because BB had the smallest drop ever and LI got the highest ever rating since launching on ITV2 over a year ago.

Tonight will be down to around ~1.2-1.3m IMO. Perhaps 1.12m excl and then 180k on +1.

Tomorrow doesn't bear thinking about.

When does LI finish? I think there are only 2 episodes at 10pm next week, and tbh I hate stayin up till 10pm in week nights to watch it.

Quite a lot i think. Tonight is 11/31. So they are only a third into the run it seems.

Omg :omgno:

zakman440 09-06-2016 10:19 AM

That's quite a good retention, and last night's opening was a strong episode tbh :clap1:. An astonishing rating for Love Island though - I think it'll be safe to say that it'll probably be getting a recommission if they manage to keep a high audience.

I believe that was only in relation to the launch, not last nights ep

Samm 09-06-2016 10:54 AM

Glad it's stable, it deserves it last nights show was really good

Rob! 09-06-2016 11:37 AM

Oooh that's extremely positive? Last night was an excellent episode so hopefully it'll be enough to sustain some interest over the coming days. Love Island can do one, it is SUCH trash. Even Timebomb was obliterating it last year and this looks to be a much better series.

I watched Love Island for 15 misn one night and just couldn't stick it, who would want to watch like 15 good looking model types? I just don't get it, they're not interesting or relatable.

Ross. 09-06-2016 11:56 AM

It's actually quite enjoyable if you give it a chance.

My allegiance lies with BB!

Firewire 09-06-2016 12:04 PM

I'm making both work

Happy for Love Island doing so well though and that's a great rating for BB

You could say that about BB tbf though
The thing that I hate about the concept of Love Island is that it seems to be a show based on the idea of showmances. Like why would I care?

I thought this at first too but it surprised me with how entertaining I found it.

All I know about Love Island is someone got snatched and kicked off, I've got Love and Hip Hop to fill that sort of TV!

Educate :clap2:

Idg the LI snobbery, I prefer BB as a show but as if C5 BB is any better than LI. They couldnt even promote their own show well. And last year's LI was way better than the last two years of BB imo.

And in terms of Tom's "good looking and model types" comment - this years LI cast actually has more normal people than BB17's cast and if you look at their jobs - they're much more normal and everyday than the people's in BB17's - who've all been on the cusp of fame bar Hughie.

But anyway - great retention for BB last night. This series has potential and I pray and hope the producers don't push the panic button unlike last year. The first show was entertaining and they should let them just get on with it.

Last night's highlights show was more watched than ANY of Big Brother timebomb's highlights shows (almost every episode last series as well)

Yes, badly wrote that! I meant it's more watched than all the highlights but is also more watched than a lot of live shows and stuff too, so almost beating every episode bar a few as well

*mazedsalv** 09-06-2016 01:52 PM

It's early days and all but last night was the highest rated highlight show since the Thursday rating of Armeggedon week in BB15, two years ago.

Strange. I guess 10pm is a good idea this time. It will be down tonight and certainly tomorrow and Saturday.

Rob! 09-06-2016 01:55 PM

I emailed Ben Frow saying that I was really enjoying the series so far, commented on the amazing retention rate from last night and asked him about the live updates on Twitter but all I got back was "Thank you. Hopefully it'll get even better!"

Typical.

Should we all send the same message?

Rob! 09-06-2016 01:58 PM

Well as long as the positivity is there too - I don't see the point in bombarding him with criticism.

In other ratings news:

welp challenging in a 'it's our goal to improve them' way or a 'this is not good news for the future of the civilian series' way?

Someone should email him and ask him what the likelihood of the civilian series being axed before the end of the contract is if the ratings continued to be poor, hopefully to put our minds at rest one way or another

It may have obliterated it in the ratings but not in series quality, Love Island blew BB16 out of the water

People should give it a chance, I wasn't expecting to like it last year and had the same snobby attitude as most but it was surprisingly good and this year looks extremely promising too, and as others have said the cast are far more like how Big Brother's used to be than they are now - I'd actually say the editing is far more old school BB-esque too.

It might be a show about showmances but there were people last year who made it to the final having never found any love interest and one couple who were just solely friends. You find out a lot about the personalities of each of the islanders and so while the show revolves around the theme of love, it's still got the same qualities I enjoy in Big Brother. It's very underrated

LukeB 09-06-2016 02:04 PM

Love Island is not trash :nono:

It's actually entertaining so who cares if it's about showmances really

*mazedsalv** 09-06-2016 02:08 PM

LI is not my thing but having watched half of an episode last week I can see why it's doing well. I think the cast is actually decent.

Welp really

Samm 09-06-2016 02:11 PM

As for Love Island I stuck to watching nearly a full episode of it a few days ago, but still don't like, it's like they've stuck the cast of TOWIE in a villa?

Yep because last night with +1 got between 1.45-1.55m.

The highest HL show last year was 1.40m.

And the Thursday Armeggedon ep got around 1.5m.

What do you mean? The highest Thursday highlights show rating since then or just the highest highlights show rating since then?

It can't have been the highest Thursday highlights show because it was Wednesday last night

Huh?

No I mean last night was higher than every show. Was the highest since Thursday Week 6 in BB15.

Not highest Thursday as it wasn't Thurs last night :joker:
