Last time they renewed it was 2 months after CBB15 or something. I can't see them announcing the end midway through a series when there's then still another 2 series to go, because anything could happen

Tbf C4 announced midway through BB10 that it was axed and they still had CBB7, BB11 and UBB to air

think about it, if 7 media outlets including the ****ing BBC have received and reported the news of its cancellation I think it’s safe to say they might’ve made up their mind instead of gambling on hot and cold viewership

None of the other news outlets have their own sources though as far as I'm aware, they're just quoting what the Daily Star has put on their front page

While I get what you mean and I highly doubt they'd announce the end so soon, Channel 4 announced they were dropping Big Brother like, almost 2 weeks before the BB10 finale (26th August 2009), and at this point they actually had 3 series left, and even at this point Big Brother finished over a year later in September 2010, whereas we could be in our final series of Big Brother UK this time in 6 months

thisisdanny 20-01-2018 11:49 PM

IF for example they do have a UBB2 then they'll be saving all their money for good allstars which means the celebs we're going to get in CBB22 are going to be vile cheap and nasty

Exactly, the daily star haven’t even released the story yet... everyone is literally going off this one picture of the front page article

I imagine UBB2 would replace CBB22

To be fair I've always thought if this was going to be the final year then they'd have announced it last year rather than leaving it just before the last series so I'm still hopeful

the daily star has announced the axe numerous times so I don’t understand why this one time has blown up instead of being another bogus story
especially Radio ****ing 4?
it’s suspicious and it still doesn’t look good

a BBC Three online exclusive?

MTVN 20-01-2018 11:56 PM

Fact is the Star is still the official BB newspaper so they are to be respected, their headlines do often give a misleading picture of their actual story though so let's wait and see

If true then this is what many wished for, people will never appreciate what C5 did for this show to keep it running as long as they did

Ross. 20-01-2018 11:56 PM

Does anyone even watch anything on BBC Three

okay but imagine if C4 partnered with Netflix and C4 would have all the eps and live shows and Netflix would have 24/7 live feed with a catchup of all the other eps oh my god

Ant. 20-01-2018 11:58 PM

Remember when CBB7 was the only CBB to use a real eye for its design? Remember when the first 3 boots of CBB7 were female? Remember how CBB7 aired during the last year of BB on Channel 4?? REMEMBER WHEN CBB21 IS THE ONLY OTHER SERIES TO USE A REAL EYE FOR ITS DESIGN? REMEMBER WHEN THE FIRST 3 BOOTS OF CBB21 WERE FEMALE?? REMEMBER HOW 7 X 3 IS 21?? DO YOU GET WHAT IM GETTING AT?!?!?!

From the Daily Mail article:

"The Daily Star report that Channel 5 are set to 'pull the plug' on the show, which started out on Channel 4 before making the move in 2011.

Insiders claim dwindling ratings and a lost interest in the show due to rival successful shows such as the widely-popular Love Island means the programme is 'just not worth the price tag' for the channel.

The 21st series of Celebrity Big Brother is currently on air - however news surfaced that this could be one of the last.

Show insiders told the publication: 'There have been conversations between the execs about not renewing the contract for both Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother. It would be the end of an era but they feel the time is right to end.

'There is still time for the bosses at Channel 5 to change their mind but it is not looking likely. Even if they drop it, another channel or a streaming service may decide to pick it up in the future.'

seems like all the articles are just using the Daily Star article as the source for their claim

I shan't allow it! I WON'T LET PONTYBOI GET WHAT HE WANTS!!!

Oaker 21-01-2018 12:20 AM

I can only assume the mention of a streaming service potentially picking it up is because Hayu still exists
