She'd had a tough day of it which he realised hence why he pretended he wanted to talk to her out of concern then when she didn't react the way he wanted he deliberately went in hard repeating his comments from the previous night and doing everything he could to antagonise her. There was clearly no need for it unless he wanted to push her over the edge again which he succeeded in doing
