Yes,I am sure they have better things to do than have to carry so called adults out of the way, some poor sod is probably in dire need for them.

Oliver_W 17-04-2019 05:23 PM

I feel sorry for the victims of crime who'll have to wait longer for any police response while they're babysitting...

Cherie 17-04-2019 05:24 PM

On the other hand where are all these police normally...same as match days police everywhere...

I guess that would be my point. Imagine what a volcano eruption does to its surrounding atmosphere and to the air quality for people and animals living in the area... then consider what that would do to the entire planet and it's inhabitants. Makes no sense. Unless you're going for a survival of the fittest mass world population cull... that's a whole other store though

I read another study by two engineers who work for Google, who researched renewable energy technologies for years, and basically concluded that current renewable technology had no chance of stopping warming, and the only hope was to invest a lot of money in research to find a new cheap low carbon energy technology.

https://ai.google/research/pubs/pub43326.pdf

The other option would for people around the world - not just in one country - to radically alter their lifestyles. It would mean emerging economies being kept back also, and this is all very unlikely to happen.
Your last statement is the real truth of it.

Why are they targeting public transport if they’re worried about global warming?

Surely they want more people on public transport rather than in cars.

Yeah this seems odd. We should be encouraging MORE people to use public transport surely, if thinking of the environment? :suspect:

I don't really get what disrupting loads of peoples lives gains the protestors, besides hugely pissing a lot of people off and potsntially turning them further away from their 'cause'. But, I guess they have their reasons

To be fair the only bags in that picture I can see are backpacks, and I can't see any single use bottles.

Still not understanding why they are disrupting pubic transport. When public transport is a good thing for the environment really, a hell of a lot better than families with 4 cars on the road between them and such. Unless they have the very unrealistic goal of noone using transport at all besides bikes and walking? In which case, maybe countryside villages and that would be a better place for protest, as people will ALWAYS have to commute long distances too and from London. Longer commutes than its reasonable to ask them to do on a bike/on foot most of the time too.
