It means that 80% of people are likely to get it over a span of months or even years.

Only semi-valid concern is travel restrictions slowing international supply chains but the concern there is "maybe not being able to get everything you usually get"... not "there is literally no food".

Like okay, I bought a few extra teabags and long life milk its not the end of the world as we know it, you only have to look at how people react at Christmas and in the snow to know it can get very messy very quickly

Cherie 04-03-2020 12:17 PM

Anti bac being a case in point, you can't buy it for love nor money, I don't buy it but I have friends at a special needs school and they use tons of it and its now out of stock everywhere bought by people who wouldn't normally use it

The biggest worry about this virus is that people are buying long life milk. I'll take my chances with lung death rather than resort to such desperate measures!

I'm going to make some for work today, we get 600+ drivers coming through the gatehouse from all over, think we need to start thinking a bit more seriously about the risks.

Every other shelf was fine

The teacher today asked smallest boy LT's class to come up with a sentence with the word "contagious" in it.

Smallest boy LTs hand shot up

"my dad says he avoids the road to school with the lollipop man on it as it takes the contagious to do his bloody job"

I told him to buy crackers and brown rice, I also mentioned flour but he said he's buying bread mix instead

Crimson Dynamo 06-03-2020 03:14 PM

I got in with 2 family packs last week, I will start rationing if I need to :oh:

On the news today some minister was banging on about buying normally as the supply chain would be fine and that the government were liaising with supermarkets on this and how to get food to anyone who has to self isolate which was immediately denied by a supermarket chief :skull:

Supermarkets have cast doubts on an assurance from the health secretary that food supplies would not be disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak.

On Thursday, Matt Hancock said: "We are working with the supermarkets to make sure that, if people are self-isolating, then we will be able to get the food and supplies that they need."

But supermarket sources said they had not discussed getting food to homes.

One executive said he was "baffled" by the suggestions.

An executive told BBC business editor Simon Jack: "Matt Hancock has totally made up what he said about working with supermarkets. We haven't heard anything from government directly."

He added that sales of cupboard basics such as pasta and tinned goods have "gone through the roof".

I was listening to a guy on the radio who made a great point about them all ****ing off to Europe to discuss the virus, in this day and age of technology where they could all video conference and they telling everyone else not to travel unless it's necessary
