Surfing the net I see Jay is mostly loathed on social media.

They talk about his criminal past, drugs and that Jay and his mum and his friend have staged his 'disappearance'.

A few saying he's back in the UK hiding in a wardrobe. :shocked:

I'm open minded to the idea.

And tbh it'd be the happier ending.

Setting up a gofund account when there is no described function for it is very, very dodgy

If he truly has disappeared/harm has come to him then it will be upsetting for the family, but there is concrete evidence that he was involved in a life of violent crime, so I personally, have zero sympathy for him, and i'm sure most have the same opinion

It's certainly quite murky, whatever is going on.

…I have no idea what the truth of any of Jay’s disappearance is…but if there is any aspects of ‘being staged’ or any variation of that then there are so many layers of that…there are so many very valuable and very limited police/authority resources being used up in the search that could possibly be making a difference elsewhere…anyway, let’s see what today brings…

…with regard to the GoFundMe page/account which apparently has Jay’s family approval…?..I can understand that taking time away from work and travelling to and from Tenerife with accommodation as well etc, will take much financial resource and that help might be needed with that…?…but Jay’s disappearance is only a few days so how is it being thought that many to and from visits might be what the family will be doing…that potentially much time away from employment might be needed and financial help might be needed etc…there are sightings so it’s hoped that he’ll be found safe and well and yet it’s ‘predicted’ to be quite a long period of looking for him…?..I think that I’m beginning to overthink, probably…

The construction company that employs missing British teenager Jay Slater has said the "picture being painted of him is just not true".

Mr Slater, from Oswaldtwistle near Blackburn in Lancashire, has been missing in Tenerife since Monday morning.

Since he went missing, rumours and conspiracy theories about his disappearance have circulated online, with social media users speculating on platforms including TikTok and Facebook.

But on Sunday, PH Build, which employs Mr Slater as an apprentice bricklayer said the teenager has been misrepresented online.

The firm wrote on Facebook: "Our Jay is still missing!

"We have decided to remove our last post due to all the negative comments and conspiracy theories.

"Jay has been with us since he left school and is liked by all. He's a valued member of our team and we stand by him.

"The picture being painted of him is just not true. The fact is he's a 19-year-old lad missing in a foreign country. He needs to be back home where he belongs. Come on Jay we are all praying for you."

It's complicated of course - all of these things can be true, people are complex and have different aspects of themselves, the kid they know at work can be a completely different person to who he is at the weekend, who can be different again to the son that the parents know, etc. etc. no one version of a person is more "the real person" than another.

Ultimately I do think what has happened is that he's gotten himself involved with some very dodgy goings on - Tenerife has a HUGE problem with organised crime/cartel-style drug dealing, a very dark underbelly - but TBH I also take the employers point that this is just a 19 year old kid at the end of the day, who has some terrible actions in his past and very probably some dangerous and reckless goings on more recently too, but at 19 you can't really say what life might have had in store for him. I don't think it's right to make light of (or in some cases I've seen, celebrate) his probable death.

Like I said before I don't think it'll be all a big fraud/scam, MAYBE he will turn up alive, but I think most likely he's been offed and won't be found. A lot of skeletons a few feet under the dirt in Tenerife.

As above, assuming he is dead I think this is actually an optimistic scenario, I honestly think the trail will simply go cold and she'll never even get to bring him home. Being 99% sure that someone you love is gone but never getting the full answer must actually be worse than burying them.

…it’s a strange one, isn’t it …and obviously so many layers to it all is what we seem to be seeing…so far as the organised crime/drugs etc …in my own very VAST experience of these things…:laugh:…they seem often to be more ‘public’ …rather than a ‘disappearance’…it’s more a world of making violent statements, isn’t it….?…with his employers…?…they would surely have all details of any violent past he has in terms of the justice system…and they’ve chosen to employ him and to make positive statements about his character….so that has to be noted as well….

A 19 year old black or Asian boy who had avoided prison for caving someone’s head in with a gang of his mates, wouldn’t be getting this much sympathy from the media, nor would his family and friends

To be fair though that's because the media is inherently racist, not because family and friends SHOULDN'T get sympathy when someone is missing (regardless of who or what they are).

…I think what’s true in the world we live in…with a huge ‘event’ in a family’s lives such as this, which gains so much media attention etc…there are two main nightmare layers to cope with…one is obviously the search itself…the other is the cruelty of social media …both very destroying, I would imagine…

Some things I want to point out

Both Brad and Lucy claim to have been the last to speak to him before his battery died but how is that possible?

Why is Brads mom in charge if a fb group and oart of the search and doing everything in her power to clear her sons name who has already flown home which is weird if you so called childhood best freind is missing.
The man who rented the air bnb was Lucy step dad

Why has his mom shown zero emotion and kept pushing the fact he was kidnapped with no proof at that time

Why do they need 30k but have not said what for? They are getting free food and accommodation in Spain.

Lucy and her step dad are known drugs mules in the area.
Was he even in the mountains to start? It seems suspicious that they have found no evidence or the dogs have been unable to find his scent anywhere or any blood from the leg injury he apparently had.

Why did his freinds allow him to go with strangers when he was clearly in no fit state to do so?

Lucy is freinds with Tom (who may I add is a pedo so please no sympathy) who ws attacked by a group Jay was involved in and he was in Tenerife at the time he
was missing.

Why are they not searching other places that they have been spottings of him.

Lucy started a gofund me last year for another man who went missing in the same area who was then found a week later beaten.

If he is mixed up in drugs than he is no longer in tenerife and is either being held hostage in Morocco or his body was dumped in the middle of the sea.

There was a boat that left the port near where he was apparently last seen at around the same time then turned its tracker off.

My gut feelings is it is all a scam to make money especially when his social media was logged into and im not buying the fact he told his mom all his passwords and you would need his phone to access it.

I also feel that he had nothing tk do with the missing drugs but is being blamed as an easy target.

Also a possibility its a revenge attack and I wouldn't entirely rule out being a victim of human trafficking
