Oh if he was joking then I personally didn't find it funny.

But I just do have my doubts on if that was his intention to begin with.

It was all said tongue in cheek ( as he explained later ) plus he was smiling all the time

I think it was probably just his sense of humour that didn’t quite hit the mark

Then that comment suggesting that he could turn her given a few more days is something straight guys have always said jokingly to or about lesbians .. its that old fashioned / outdated style of humour

Vanessa 10-04-2025 08:43 AM

He was definitely joking, you can see him laughing. He probably got angry as well and things escalated.
Then he apologized.
I don't think they see eye to eye.

Yes THAT is the moment it really went downhill .. he could/should have handled the situation far better

That said we don’t know his mindset at that moment .. he had just been given a serious shock / warning by BB … he was presumably upset / annoyed/ confused / jet lagged / anxious being surrounded by everyone and maybe if JoJo had waited an hour or so to ‘educate’ him then things could have been soooo different

…that sort of ‘humour’ is something that you would have to know someone very well to know how they would take it and that it wouldn’t offend…he not only doesn’t know JoJo but inferred that he wasn’t keen on her …and if you’re saying that it’s something that’s specifically said about lesbians…?…then it’s targeting and it’s prejudice and there’s no two ways with that so a warning was absolutely the correct call…

By using offensive language repeatedly.

I could call you the idiot of TiBB and say “I’m only joking”

Would you be okay with that?

I think that Mickey is trying to be the troll of the Season.

Yes we tend to forget that we see about 20 minutes out of 24 hours each day so we miss all the other interactions

You are assuming he’s a straight forward character living a normal life style and will behave accordingly

It is clear that he is far from that

Part of me wonders why such a confident, supposedly high achieving, flamboyant person was apparently made to feel upset and uncomfortable .. over a few tongue in cheek comments

I’m suggesting that he is an ageing , complex , severely damaged individual

I said when he went in that he was an interesting/intriguing character with violent tendencies and a short fuse

He was warned for calling her a lesbian. Is she not a lesbian?

He was so clearly joking and she's too young and stupid to know. She cried ffs... If they're the hurtiest words she ever hears I hope she never joins TiBB.

He called her a fag.

I swear some people will bend over backwards to excuse homophobia. His behaviour was completely out of line and there's no excuse that works. It's not the same as a light hearted joke at all.

For a 21 year old young woman to go into the house and just hours later be called the most extreme homophobic slur, she had every right to be upset and she actually handled the situation a lot better than the washed up bully who tried to humiliate her.

arista 10-04-2025 10:12 AM

He's American. Try to find Maru's explanation for the word 'fag', she's one of our American members. Frankly I can't be bothered to engage with this weepy, self-indulgent crap. I've been called names all my life including on thus forum. I don't need to cry on someone's shoulder.

After she shot down his creepy conversation about tying her up and turning her straight and he realised he’d been rejected, he moved on to bullying her by talking everyone he was going to evict the lesbian, twice. Then called her fag.

But it’s ok! It was a joke!

This is the climate on TiBB now. The Right wing hate gay people and people who stick up for minorities. They will excuse anything and any behaviour if it pisses off people that they deem woke.

It’s pathetic.

Something doesn’t add up .. if she is supposedly the Queen of the internet with a gazillion followers then she will have been called far , far worse and probably about a few thousand times each flamin day !

It smacks of tactics to get the others and the voting public on HER side

She is obviously very streetwise and clearly knows how these programs work

You seem to have a hard time believing she has many followers. Perhaps a little google search for you to clarify that.

Oh, please. The mental gymnastics just to support a horrible old man's right to bully a young woman for being gay is so cringeworthy to watch. To try and use the fact he is American as some kind of excuse is laughable. He knew exactly what he was saying.

Not tolerating homophobic slurs is not "self indulgent crap" but letting us know where you stand on the matter.

Quite frankly, you being called names your entire life is irrelevant on the matter. If you were a housemate in Big Brother who had just had the rules explained to you and you were then hours later being called a fa**ot then maybe that argument would have a leg to stand on, but it doesn't.

Yes... so he used the word "fag" and then pointed at JoJo. Maybe this requires a modicum of common sense to understand that he was using that word to refer to her. Let us know if you need any more help for this to be explained to you.

She thinks the most interesting thing about her is that she's a lesbian and was actually inviting questions. Don't most people know gay and lesbian people in the real world? Because those I know, being gay doesn't define them, it's just one facet of multi-faceted people.
