Yes that is a big loss on Radio5 afternoon 2PM slot,
I agree.

Mark wanted to cross the picket lines
but Simon would not.

The Problem is more of these strikes are Due
so I think they should move there show to non strike days.
It can be done.

Tom 05-11-2010 08:02 PM

Emma Crosby is fit, was watching her on News at One instead of Loose Women on my work break

Was good to see her back on TV, not seen her since GMTV

arista 05-11-2010 08:16 PM

Nine men and only two women. Things haven't moved on much, have they.

Is there anyone in the world who likes Chris Moyles? I'd be interested to know, because I've never met anyone who has anything but contempt for him.

[QUOTE=arista;4375918]Today some BBC staff are on Strike.

They can for me, the BBC is miles away from the great presentation it used to be.

I also don't like Chris Moyles Livia, never have.

I also wish the BBC was forced to wake up as to its future, while it does still do most sporting events to near perfection, and is really good on documentaries,it has faded massively from its past glory days.

I wish some political party would take on board a policy to at last get rid of the, what I have heard termed, dinosaur tax, as to the licence fee.
When the time comes for me to leave home after Uni,I will begrudge every single penny I have to spend on the daft TV licence, in this day and age in this Country it is ridiculous that all households have to buy a TV Licence for the privilege of having a TV,simply because of the BBC.

Scrap it, force the BBC to live in the real World for a change.

My old thread
More Cutbacks at the BBC to come.

Ref : for Kate who posted this on her thread

What do you think of the BBC?
What are your opinions on the good old BBC? Happy with them? Or do you, like me, think they should be dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age? Given a metaphorical boot up the backside?

Major crime number 1: The TV Licence. It's outdated and ridiculous, should have been abolished long since, only they seem to think they are too highbrow for adverts, which would bring in so much more revenue as well. I refuse to pay it, never have, and never will if I have my way.

Another massive faux pas they have made recently is The Voice. I was excited for this, but they've made a complete bollocks of the whole thing. The voting system is a shambles, and thus there is no excitement, no vibe for the results at all, as by the time they are broadcast we've already known the results for almost 24 hours. SMH. Plus by only opening votelines for less than an hour they are missing the chance of making loads of revenue. Fools.

Thoughts?

Kizzy 27-05-2012 11:44 PM

My thoughts are that since this thread was raised almost 3 years ago, though added to occasionally last year is: despite many wanting it changed...... things remain as they were.

Unchanged. The remainder of my thoughts are on Kate's thread. As for staff cuts: tough: it's happening everywhere, don't see why it makes any difference the name of the company.... times, are as they say: hard.

joeysteele 28-05-2012 06:57 AM

Well, arista I am with Kate near all the way in her comments,I know you dislike the licence fee with as much passion as I do, I have said a lot on the subject yesterday but the one reality is that the current agreement as to the BBC and the licence fee is contracted until 2016 so no change is possible before then likely.

That's at least another 4 years of this accursed tax, which it is seen as, but I hope that some political party will include in their manifesto the aim to change the funding of the BBC and aim to abolish the licence at the next election,(the votes would roll in for the party that does that).

The BBC does some good programming but there should not have to be any compulsion now to have to pay to watch the BBC,their proportion of channels as to all channels available in the UK is now very small and despite their better programmes,in my view, there is no reason at all why they should receive public funding for their transmissions.

Earn their income like most other companies do and not get funded by an ever increasing fee like this,it is outdated and ridiculous, (even though they have agreed to a temporary freeze on the licence as to increasing it), at £145.50 it is time it was abolished.

arista 28-05-2012 07:31 AM

"fee like this,it is outdated and ridiculous,"

Yes welll outdated
and the BBC bosses
know that.
