If 6th place received 10 points, they would leapfrog into 2nd.

Round 1, the users with the most nominations will make up the top 50. For example, say 43 users receive 4 or more nominations, and then 18 users have 3 nominations at the end of Round 1, there are obviously 7 spots left to fill and 18 users all eligible. Then I would go to the first come first served rule and the first 7 users to have gained 3 sets of nominations would take the spots, though obviously there's still scope for more than 50 to qualify if someone gave more than one user their third nomination and they had the deciding nomination.

This way is much fairer. There's still the importance of getting your nominations in quickly, but it means that people aren't screwed out of participating by virtue of not being voted for quickly enough. Similarly, Round 2 will only be open for a week to speed things up. If you give people 2 weeks to vote, some people will take 2 weeks to vote, and it doesn't need to be open for that long.

I've also been given a heads up regarding other users trying to fix nominations in Round 1. If I had been made aware of this earlier, I would have been able to do something about it, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Hopefully this new system will go some way in preventing situations like that from happening again. In future, if I can prove that people have been vote fixing or I'm sent evidence of people vote fixing, I'll just void those users' nominations/votes in future. I'll speak about this more in the countdown thread but I'm a bit disappointed more than anything.

Aren't alot of people guilty of this indirectly though , like vote for so and so they so deserve it, they need to be in the top 50 etc, all fair's in love and war I say, as only three noms were needed to get in, I hold my hands up to wanting Chuff in the final 50!

Z 04-06-2013 02:58 PM

Indirectly, yes, but in this case I've been given a full conversation where someone admits to organising a group of users to vote for certain people just to cause a stir, which is very different from someone saying 'so and so deserves to make it'.

I nominated sooty because she deserves to make the list for her longevity on here :)

There are alot of people including Sooty who should make the list for their sheer contribution to the forum, BBFan1991, Girth, Reece should have made it, Mockinator, loads of people. I'm glad Omah and Chuff made it, both contribute loads, even if people don't agree with their views, they make the forum an interesting place.

:joker: oops. Out of sight out of mind.

Livia 04-06-2013 03:17 PM

People vote for who they like, who they get on with and who entertains them. It's not an award for biggest contribution otherwise it'd just be an acknowledgement for whoever makes the most posts.

That sounds really good Zee and anyway as long as you are happy with whatever format you choose then that is all that matters.

1st place is ahead by 27 points... is it all over?

This five person race for 2nd place is so thrilling to watch, 8 points currently separate 2nd from 6th.

For Most Loved #10 you should do a top 100, being a milestone and all...that's if we could manage to find 100 members of course

Would take about 12 hours for the countdown

Jack_ 04-06-2013 08:20 PM

That's true, though you could do it over two nights :joker:

 We'd be here all weekend. Do-able though for sure, usually get about 80ish people nominated in Round 1, if it was open for longer I think 100 would be reached easily. We'll find out in ML9...

Z 04-06-2013 08:21 PM

Just counted. 85 different people were nominated in Round 1 this time around... and it was only open for about 10 minutes

Jack_ 04-06-2013 08:23 PM

Bloody hell :laugh2: 100 is definitely doable then! Would be a hell of a lot of work for you though, I imagine it's stressful enough already :o

Z 04-06-2013 08:25 PM

Ach it's not so bad if I've got all the layout stuff prepared in advance, it's writing the paragraphs that takes up time. That's why I'm closing it on Thursday at 6pm so I've got all of Thursday night and Friday during the day to do all the write ups so I can just start posting them on Friday night :D

Raph 04-06-2013 08:31 PM

Yes, and then every body could have a list of 20, or 15 so you can nominate the few you wanted to but couldn't in your 10! :p
