What about this Clare then? I think she's getting a bit too big for her boots myself, but I liked how her and Gus seemed to get on well tonight. Oh and it was nice to see Gus back in it tonight, I haven't seen him in a while.

Ann 08-02-2008 10:41 PM

Champagne, a candle-lit dinner and flowers are off the agenda as warring Tanya and Max Branning find a unique way to celebrate St Valentine’s Day – with a divorce hearing.

‘But this year,’ a tanked-up Tanya tells daughter Lauren, ‘Cupid is gunna take his arrows back… What yer dad did to me – us – there’s no comin’ back from that.’

With Max smarming all over Tanya in a conceited attempt to ‘start over’ again, this is a remarkably acrimonious battle that’s tearing the family apart. And Lorna Fitzgerald is astonishing as devastated little Abi trying to keep her parents together, even destroying the key piece of evidence – The Happy Couple wedding DVD seen at Christmas.

Goaded on by a smirking Max at the hearing on Thursday, Tanya can’t help lashing out at him. And on the edge of despair, she decides to leave Walford.

‘They lost the DVD. They lost the proof. And I lost my temper,’ she angrily tells the girls. ‘And your father sat there all smug and reasonable like a little ginger Buddha. Well, let’s see how reasonable he feels when his entire family have disappeared.’

Knowing that scumbag, relieved…

STACEY’s brush with death inspires her to try to win back Bradley’s heart!

She makes a last-ditch attempt to save their marriage by inviting her estranged husband on a Valentine’s Day date at a Doctor Who convention * but is it too late?

After recovering in hospital from a drink and drugs overdose, Stacey’s close call prompts her to give things another try with Bradley.

“Stacey realises she needs to fight for Bradley,” says Lacey Turner, who plays her. “After what she’s been through, she will never forgive herself if she doesn’t at least try to get Bradley back.”

As the week begins, Stacey is in hospital after mixing booze with the illegal drug liquid ecstasy and collapsing at R&R. Jean, Sean, Mo and Charlie are all frantic with worry, but Stacey is more concerned about her love life than her health.

The market trader slips out of hospital and catches a train to visit Bradley’s mum. Bradley isn’t there, but Stacey begs Rachel to give her his new address.

“It takes a while to convince Rachel,” explains Lacey. “But once she hears what Stacey has to say she sympathises with her * especially when Stacey reveals Max’s involvement in their affair.” As 14 February dawns, Bradley is stunned when Stacey turns up on his doorstep and gives him a Valentine’s card.

“It’s a brave thing for her to do,” admits Lacey. “Stacey wants the opportunity to tell Bradley how she feels.” Bradley is not happy to see his disgraced wife. He is bemused when he opens the card to find two tickets to a Doctor Who convention at St Paul’s Cathedral later that day.

Stacey begs science-fiction fan Bradley to join her at the event so they can talk things through. And she is delighted when he later turns up with a card of his own.

The pair walk past Cybermen and various Time Lord exhibits, before Stacey finally pours her heart out to her husband in the TARDIS!

“Stacey says she wishes she could turn back time,” adds Lacey. “She wants to spend the rest of her life with him.

“Bradley says he wants to see the world, so Stacey suggests they go travelling together. She just wants him back.”

At first, Bradley won’t forgive and forget. But as Stacey tries to leave, he follows and takes her in his arms. Could this be a fresh start for them?

Former EastEnders star Jill Halfpenny has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child.

The actress, 32, who played Kate Mitchell in BBC One soap, is due to give birth in May.

Halfpenny's husband, actor Craig Conway, told the Daily Mail: "I can't wait to be a dad, I'm very much looking forward to the birth of our baby, it's such an exciting time.

"We haven't asked its sex because we'll be happy either way."

After leaving EastEnders, Halfpenny went on to star in Waterloo Road, and won series two of Strictly Come Dancing in 2004.
Congratulations Jill!

Anita Dobson has branded her former EastEnders co-star Leslie Grantham a "silly boy" over his 2004 internet sex scandal.

The actress, who played Leslie's on-screen wife Angie Watts in the BBC One soap, claimed that his behaviour was "really unfortunate" and "a great pity".

Grantham, better known as Dirty Den Watts, faced controversy following his character's dramatic comeback to the Square. It was revealed that he had performed sex acts in his dressing room and sent sexual images to a 23-year-old over the internet.

"It was his own fault, wasn't it? It was a shame. It was silly and really unfortunate. He was a silly boy," Anita told the Daily Record. "It's a great pity because he has a lovely, lovely wife and three lovely children. I don't know if his marriage is together or if it's split up."

Dobson added that Grantham had wasted the "gift" that had been offered to him by EastEnders producers when he was asked to return.

"It's like Barbara Windsor. You are given this gift of this wonderful part where you, as an older actor, can settle in," she explained. "It becomes like a pension, a benevolent fund. You can tootle along and not keep putting your neck on the block."
