Well, nobody can seem to crack this one...I'll give you what I would've liked to have seen fourth, one point if anyone can see why:

http://i.imgur.com/MhhNIzc.png

(The fourth clue wouldn't necessarily need to be that)

Shaun 31-03-2014 06:51 PM

is it the relationship between the letters in the first word and the second? The first word has 1 letters in common (__A__), second has 2 (_I_E_), third has 3 (_OVE_), fourth has 4 (_LUES).

Ammi 31-03-2014 06:54 PM

..acronyms...I don't know..computer programmes..?...

That's exactly it! It's known as the "Hamming Distance" between the two words, how many letters you would have to change in the first word in order to get to the second word. So the hamming distance of the first clue is 4, then 3, then 2, and the hamming distance between Blues and Clues is 1. So that's a point to Shaun, well done indeed.

Onto our next sequence, I will only accept a correct answer given with a reason, as there is quite a limited field of guesses :P What comes fourth?

Shaun 31-03-2014 07:05 PM

*shrug*

Big Brother 15... because they're the consecutive years there'll have been a Rugby Union world cup on?

Livia 31-03-2014 07:22 PM

Well done Shaun, bloody hell... I couldn't see anything in that last set of clues.

4 = Big Brother 1? Ratings descending...

I don't bump often, but I'll make myself an exception here.

Shaun 04-04-2014 10:08 PM

i have zero idea

so i shall guess Big Brother 8 because they're series with crap male winners

Tregard 04-04-2014 10:21 PM

Okay, well here is the fourth in the sequence, again one point if someone can tell me why they're a sequence:

Kate! 04-04-2014 10:23 PM

BB9. No housemates walked in these series?

Kate! 04-04-2014 10:24 PM

Oops nvm that's wrong!

Ammi 05-04-2014 05:53 AM

..are they series where housemates left the house and then returned..

Tregard 14-04-2014 12:57 PM

Sorry about the delay folks! Had some very important business that needed attending to!

This one was a bit nasty to be honest:

http://i.imgur.com/WOAZpQb.png

Simply put, BB4, BB6 and BB7 all had male final 2's, and after 7 there wasn't another Male final 2 until Big Brother 12, with Aaron and Jay.

So, no points there. I wonder if you'll fare better with our next sequence? Here's your first clue:

Ammi 14-04-2014 01:05 PM

...hmmmm..*thinks*...

Livia 17-04-2014 06:13 PM

I'm going to guess this has something to do with Zelda and say no.4 would be Impa, who stays with the sword in the Temple of Hylia.

Talk about a shot in the dark...

Shaun 17-04-2014 06:15 PM

4... Spirit in the Sky with Gareth Gates

Blimey, I wasn't actually expecting this one to get got! I went with the old english word to play upon a fiddle, but fum is acceptable!

http://i.imgur.com/LyGwSPe.png

Yes for this one the pronunciations of the first two clues are probably a little ambiguous, but the sequence is Fi-Phi-Foe-Phum, very well done for three points.

Onto your next sequence, and these are going to be picture clues. I'd like a reason as well, if you'd be so kind. What's fourth and why? Time starts now:

..cities of the countries that make up the UK..?..the last one a welcome sign to a city in England..?..

Tregard 20-04-2014 08:51 PM

There's a specific city that works in this connection and only that city

Tregard 22-04-2014 05:51 PM

I feel these are a bit too tricky, this one I do love slightly though.

Newry is a city in Northern Ireland. Specifically, the 4th largest city. Northern Ireland is the 4th largest country in the UK.

Newport is the 3rd biggest city in Wales, which is the 3rd largest UK country.

Edinburgh is Scotland's 2nd largest city, so I was looking for the largest city in the largest country of the UK, which would be London.

I feel like this sequences round hasn't been going too well. Some of you higher point scorers must be feeling downtrodden, maybe you could use a cuddle.

This first clue isn't aimed at anyone specifically:

Livia 22-04-2014 05:51 PM

Glastonbury? Earliest Christian churches formed in the four countries of GB?

Edit: Oops... soz Tregard. Timing.

Livia 22-04-2014 06:01 PM

I'm going to guess... Bomb a Kaa car. Or something like that...
