A typical pretentious meh of an episode from Gatiss. Glad we might not be getting another episode from him any time soon.
|
I thought it was a pretty decent story, lol.
|
Slightly underwhelming.
|
That... wasn't great, and next week doesn't look much better
|
I wasn't expecting much from this week, or next week, basically just waiting for the finale now xD
|
|
All he would say is the new doctor is younger then Capaldi
|
He's probably just desperate for attention tbh.
Anyone could tell you that the next doctor will be younger than Capaldi, it's common sense. |
Yeah. It's highly likely they'll be younger than a man approaching 60.
Just like it was highly likely the one after Matt Smith would be older as he was pretty much the youngest Doctor ever. |
Jesus is Capaldi only 59?? :worry:
|
There is a major death in the series finale and it isnt the doctor
|
But before Twelve bows out for good, he's got some incredibly tough decisions to make, and it sounds like not all of them have paid off.
"Friendship drives the Doctor into the rashest decision of his life," the synopsis reads. "Trapped on a giant spaceship, caught in the event horizon of a black hole, he witnesses the death of someone he is pledged to protect. "Is there any way he can redeem his mistake? Are events already out of control? For once, time is the Time Lord's enemy." |

Moffat said the finale was a bloodbath before the series even started.

I really don't get Nardole's popularity on DS.
I remember them being pleasantly surprised when Catherine Tate wasn't just a caricature from one of her sketch shows and yet that's all Nardole is. He's like a Little Britain character and Matt Lucas although a good actor is not here. He's awful. Might help if he held any relevance to the plot but he doesn't. |
tbf he's the only one trying (and failing) to keep the Doctor and Missy to either end of their bargains, which must have some relevance somewhere
|
Thing with Nardole is that you could remove him from the majority of his appearances this series and it wouldn't make any difference at all to the episodes. Bill on her own would have worked just fine imo, don't really see the point in Nardole being there.
|
Also why in episode 1 was he all robotic making mechanical noises as he moved with screws falling off him but now he doesn't?
I feel I've missed something somewhere. Maybe a whole episode? |
I barely remember that, but if so wasn't the Doctor trying to convince Bill that Nardole was a robot for... some reason? Or am I confusing that with Missy pretending to be a robot back in series 8?
|
Yeah I thought Nardole was a robot too.
But a couple of episodes ago he was in hospital with t'bad leg or something so I guess not? |

Yeah I think Catherine Tate's sketch show was still airing back then or she was at least still doing specials so she was very well known for Lauren and Nan whereas nowadays that's kind of passed now.

...... ... God I hated it. :fist: |
I really liked her as nan though. She was really good at that one.

The show on Netflix is so broken... it cut off in the middle of S7 (when Amy and Rory left) and jumped to Capaldi... but now I'm watching through the Tennant stuff and the last episode before the first Matt Smith one is the Xmas Special with David Morrisey! It skips the three specials that ran in 2009, which includes Tennant's death / regeneration! The last you see of Tennant, he's walking off to have christmas dinner with Morrissey, and then *boop* Matt Smith is leaping out of the crashed TARDIS in Amy's garden.
So of the four doctors across eight seasons of the 2005 series... the only regeneration shown is Eccleston to Tennant. Smith and Capaldi both just pop out of thin air with no explanation . Imagine someone trying to watch the show for the first time on Netflix :joker:. |
Are the specials even in order? Last I saw the Christmas specials were at the wrong end of each season.

I've noticed other ones out of order though, I think it's because the Christmas specials are "officially" classified as Episode 0 of a new season, where they're usually more like a "bonus extra episode" of the previous season in terms of content. But Netflix doesn't understand the concept of "episode 0" so it sticks it at the END of the season that it should come before. Actually just looking at Netflix now, seems like they're all in the right order up until S6, but there are TWO Christmas specials classed as S4 - one at the beginning and one at the end. After S6 it's just a mess! Half of S7 is missing completely... and I've just found The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor tacked onto the end of S8 . So Matt Smith regenerates into Capaldi at the very end of the first Capaldi season... like a flashback episode :joker:. |
A mess. They need to sort themselves out. It's not as if you need to be familiar with the show. They surely get given the episodes in some kind of airing order. Or they could just Google an episode list. :joker:
|
Last time I watched it on Netflix it was missing Matt Smith's regeneration entirely, there was just a jump from Smith to Capaldi, so I guess its an improvement it's on there now...
Not the best platform for a newbie to watch the show though. Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk |

I thought the Mars episode was better than I expected it to be. It was a complete filler episode and it did feel redundant after that Emoji robot episode that covered similar themes but I enjoyed it.
|
That was... slightly better than I was expecting! (some dodgy special effects aside)
Next week looks good |

Those turned up at the end to convince the Martian Queen thing to leave Mars. That was basically the end. |
