…yeah, to restore and to maintain and heat etc I think is the thing why so many are abandoned and there just isn’t the funding to bring them back…there’s an American renovation series I like to watch with a couple who live in a small town …many of the residents left to find employment as businesses died locally and the homes became derelict …they’ve spent many years bringing those homes back to life and encouraging people back to the area…and supporting businesses as well…it’s such a joy to see the homes being loved again…

This beautiful castle somewhere in Italy is abandoned for several years. There are many ghost stories were the local people are talking about but the previous owner lived here happily until he died of old age. This dining room was my favorite room of this amazing castle…

…oh me too……and it’s just so do-able in the US because the structures are quite often wood and materials that lend themselves so well to restoring or changing…I mean, one day and a large hammer and you’re almost there other than tweaks finishing touches……one time, a renovator even picked up a house and placed it down somewhere else…

This could have happened in China, but it happened in Turkey. More than five hundred nearly-indentical castles appear to be copied and pasted into this Turkish hillside but not a soul lives there. Developers meant for these uniform villas to be luxury vacation homes for healthy tourists when they began construction in 2014. However, when the company went bankrupt in 2018, investors pulled out of the deal which put construction on hold...

Abandoned presidents busts that stand 20+ feet tall. These president heads started as an attraction called Presidents Park in Williamsburg, Virginia. The park was an open-air museum where people strolled among the heads, gazing at the enormous size of them. But a lack of visitors caused the park to close just six years after opening in 2004. Instead of allowing the busts to be demolished, Howard Hankins, who helped construct the park, claimed all 42 heads and lugged them back to his private family farm for safekeeping until someone could think of what to do with them. With each bust weighing 22,000 pounds, it took nearly a week to move them all just a few miles to the large field where they now sit, and some of the heads sustained minor damage to the backs of their heads and noses. You’ll find every president here today (excluding Obama, Trump, and Biden) on his farm rotting away exposed to the elements of nature…
