She's honestly the best athlete we've had in a long time, even if she doesn't have the medals to prove it

Apparently this was her 3rd fastest time ever, making it even more incredible

I think she signed pro too early tbh. Like her times were definitely good enough to warrant sponsorships and whatnot, but she hardly had any racing experience against high-level competition and it's a huge transition to go from being a high school athlete where you race a lot in a shorter season to a professional athlete where you race more sparingly over a longer period of time. That's why I think the NCAA is such a good stepping stone, because the D1 championships are insanely competitive and that's where so many athletes are made and learn their racing tactics and instincts from. Candace Hill is kind of in that same funk now too -- sure it's great that you can 10.98 against a bunch of high schoolers but when are you going to do that against anyone who's legit? That's why I'm actually really happy that Sydney McLaughlin is going to Kentucky next year rather than signing pro. The talent's there but now she'll get the time to develop into her own.

I don't really mind Whitney much tbh, but it's shady as could be that her training group is full of a bunch of drug cheats including her coach Dennis Mitchell. Between that and being completed usurped by Candace Hill a year later she's a complete nobody now.

Yeah the NCAA's seem pretty cool, a fair few British athletes go through the US collegiate system too

Always tie your bibs on correctly folks! It could cost you the world title:

Men's 4x100m looked gooood.

Alol at James Ellington predicting gold on Twitter though.

Headie 12-08-2017 05:46 PM

^ Ellington (and Kilty) are a mess and I will rejoice the day they retire

Penultimate evening session on now, GB could win up to 4 realistic medals tonight (Farah, KJT/Lake and the two sprint relays)

Jack_ 12-08-2017 06:09 PM

Exciting night tonight :clap1:

Headie 12-08-2017 06:11 PM

:skull: @ the empty stadium for the Decathlon Pole Vault

Decathlon is such an awkward event because you have to fit so many in one day

Jack_ 12-08-2017 06:19 PM

They should consider moving a couple of finals to morning sessions in the future cause otherwise it seems people just don't care

They normally do that but the stands are even emptier :skull:

I think London have tried something different with there only being 4 morning sessions this champs and most of the action being evening sessions... and I've kind of liked it? idk how I feel about it though

Headie 12-08-2017 06:25 PM

Kat and Morgan clean sheets so far on the easy height

Headie 12-08-2017 06:27 PM

welp really?

I did think there seemed less morning sessions than usual so I see why now, I prefer it too because a) I don't feel obliged to wake up early and b) it makes the evening sessions more action-packed

According to Denise, she's ~good friends~ with Kat and when Kat jumped 1.92 in the HJ qualifying she sent her the roll eyes emoji as a joke and Kat replied "I know"

Headie 12-08-2017 06:35 PM

Mess @ everyone spectating the warm up track instead of the actual action inside the stadium

Jack_ 12-08-2017 06:38 PM

omg I was only thinking yesterday how I was missing an Eddie Butler VT :flutter:
