Yes though, it is surprising and unfortunate.

Not that I'd want Labour to have ridiculous leaders like Mrs May, Truss or the Lib Dems Swinson.

Having said that Labour has elected poor male leaders too.

My Dad once said to me he was sure Labour would have the first female leader in Barbara Castle.
Plus had she not lost her seat in 1979, he also believed Shirley Williams was likely to take over from Callaghan.

It hasn't happened and yes, no denying it, it is really surprising as to it taking so long to have the highest Party position not yet to have been held by a Female or individual from an ethnic background.
Definitely it should have happened by now.
As a Labour member that's something I'm not happy about.

Harriett Harman too was acting leader twice it's surprising she didn't seek election to the top job, rather than just running for deputy leader.

Puzzling.
