UK growth rate is sitting at around 0.3% year-on-year which is the lowest it's been since 1998, and is projected to continue to fall with no expected uptick in the next 100 years at least.

Declining population is one of the biggest problems facing western post-modern civilisation. Stopping migration would be absolutely catastrophic for infrastructure.

Now, if these parties were being honest, what they would say is that they want better quality, skilled immigration, not overall less immigration. But of course migrant skill level has no bearing whatsoever on schools/NHS/roads. Which makes Clarkson's point moot. The population level is stable, not increasing. If it starts to drop we're in trouble.

We dont need to be building anything else if our population is falling, si we dont need no more immigrants to build anything.

We have enough stuff already. Protect our green spaces.

Falling population means an aging population so you end up with a situation where the bulk of society is too old/frail to work and there aren't enough younger people to keep the lights on, or to care for the elderly. This isn't a theory it's a simple reality of late-stage capitalism, can already be seen happening in both Japan and South Korea.

Why do you think the US is suddenly knuckling down on trying to stop abortion? It aint because they give a **** about the babies. It's an attempt to slap some Flex Tape over the burst pipe of population decline (which is going to hit the central states before it hits the coastal states).

I've just grabbed some time to look on TV.

I'm wondering if it is appropriate for the BBC to be broadcasting the sessions in the Northern Irish, Welsh and Scottish assemblies during this election period.
On the BBC Parliament channel

Westminster has no proceedings so while obviously the governing of those 3 Nations of the UK goes on.
Should it be being televised???

It's like putting in place a long running set of party political broadcasting for those in the assemblies.

statement from the police:

“We previously confirmed the arrest of a Met officer on Monday, 17 June for misconduct in public office in relation to bets placed on the timing of the General Election.

“The officer – a police constable from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command – is on restricted duties.

“It is still the case that only one officer is under criminal investigation.

“We have, however, been passed information from the Gambling Commission alleging that five further officers have placed bets related to the timing of the election.

“The officers are based on the Royalty and Specialist Command, the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command and the Central West Basic Command Unit. None of them work in a close protection role.

“Decisions on whether they will be subject to any restrictions will be taken in due course.”

Very rightly so.
If there's any hint of involvement in this scandal.
Definitely straight out no matter who they are.

Leaves you wondering where this is all possibly going to go.

It's rumoured he stupidly bet against himself winning the seat he was contesting not on the date of the general election.

What an idiot

Basically they should just ban political betting

At what point does culpability lie with the bookmakers for having all these stupid markets and not closing them soon enough
