Anvil: The Story of Anvil

Absolutely brilliant documentary that casts a light on a forgotten metal band from the 80's who are still bravely ( or stupidly) attempting to make it big. It's a real life This is Spinal Tap with heart and pathos thrown into the mix.

The last few days I've watched Bedtime Stories,My Best Friend's Girl,Flubber and Forrest Gump. Loved them all,fav was probably My Best Friend's Girl.

Saw Daybreakers yesterday. Great film, lacks a real narrative but great effects. And I love vampire films, so this was always going to be good in my eyes.

The Return.

Sorority Row.

Surprisingly actually like really good, 9/10. Acting was great, the plot was good and the killer was totally unexpected even if I did guess who it might have been after the first murder.

Avatar amazing 10/10

whatever is said about the unoriginality and the script, its still so visually stunning and amazing, you need to see it in 3d at a good cinema

Savior - War film from the late 90's with Dennis Quaid. Pretty decent storyline and quite powerful.

The Men Who Stare At Goats

Strange, disjointed little film that's real saving grace is having genuine stars going along for this bizarre, odd little ride.

Shaun 17-01-2010 06:58 PM

Trainspotting.

For the first time. Seriously weird, funny, scary and tense stuff.

Ashleee:) 17-01-2010 07:07 PM

"The Book of Eli". It sucked.

Also saw "Up in the Air" a few days ago. Fast talking, witty yet unrealistic dialogue is what won it the Golden Globe for best script. I liked it, although it was rather down beat. I suggest you do not see it if you need cheering up!

Swept Away (2001)

I was asked in The Snug for a un bias review of the film showing no bias to my favorite singer Madonna who stared in the film.

The role of Amber Leighton (Madonna) was definitely the correct role for Madonna. The spoiled demanding woman suited stereotypical portrayal of Madonna in the media. Madonna played her role perfectly and fit the role of Amber well showing that Madonna is a serious person who knows how to get what she wants.

The plot of the film was your typical love romance film where the two people fall in love but provided some funny moments particularly when Amber and Giuseppe (Adriano Giannini) are stranded in the middle of the ocean with a broken boat and no food supply.

It had love, It had tears it even had some violence. But it literally swept me away!

My fave quote from the film:

''I would rather **** a pig then sleep with you monkey boy.''
