saying he will Nationalise the Energy Companies?

It could get him into power.

You along with the majority of Labour members and voters don't understand that either arista.
Even many lost Labour voters.

Even in 2019 despite that election defeat.
The Nationalisation policy was the MOST popular.

Starmer says he's pragmatic on Nationalisation.
Sorry but he needs a good shaking to WAKE him up !!!

But this is an Emergency

It has all changed fast.

Starmer could win power
by going like France

The right wing press haven't been nearly as critical of Starmer, so I would almost guarantee they've made a deal to ease off him as long as he doesn't do anything that will hurt their pockets. There's a reason he did an interview in the sun after saying he never would.

The press know that labour are due to win, especially after the absolute destruction of the last 12 years, so if they can direct his policy they'll take it for an election or two.

he has opened the door to a nightmare. Now if the unions cut their funding they are ****ed, but if he gives in and takes the money, the tories will say he is in the pockets of the unions, he can't win

The last guy took over a broke party, and left Keir £13m and 200k new memberships. Lord Starmer has destroyed both already.

Well not really as to your latter point.
Since the funding is already being payed to Labour now anyhow.
Which just about everyone knows.
So for it to continue will be the status quo really.

If he recognises these justified strikes, for me and millions of others he'd be doing the right thing for once.
Not everyone thankfully sees the Unions as only being bad guys.

I'd like to see the likes of who fully bankroll the Con Party.

[Lisa Nandy visits picket line despite
Keir Starmer's instruction that frontbenchers
should not attend strikes

Sir Keir Starmer sacked shadow
transport minister Sam Tarry after he gave
broadcast interviews from a picket line last
week and made up policy "on the hoof".]

After your love affair with the big dog, I have no idea why you would ever get miffed when anyone else might break their word.

joeysteele 01-08-2022 06:06 PM

Starmer stated he DIDN'T sack Sam Tarry for attending a picket line.
He stated he sacked him for giving media interviews.

He SHOULDN'T have sacked him anyhow in my view.

However Lisa hasn't given an unofficial media interview.
So even on his own fudged and ridiculous statement on Tarry, Starmer has no reason to sack Lisa.
Unless he has a death wish for the next election.

Surely it just shows even more weakness if he lays down guidelines and high ranking mps simply ignore them ?

Not really.

His main weaknesses for me is that he doesn't clearly state policies.
Along with not keeping the popular policies he should.

The Slim Reaper 05-08-2022 01:10 PM

The man who removed the whip from the most honourable man in politics.

bots 05-08-2022 01:20 PM

they were minor breaches though apparently, so, as it's not Boris, those don't count :smug:

joeysteele 05-08-2022 02:20 PM
