"Come for you" lol if the moderation & administration of this forum was even vaguely working, he'd have kicked your arse to Truth Social years ago without the courtesy of one word in your direction about it :joker:. Let's not start playing that one it's not just jumping the shark, it's hand-building a plane and flying over it.

Major companies resume advertising on X, after previously joining a boycott of the site.

Comcast, Disney, Warner Bros, Discovery and Lionsgate have resumed advertising on the site this year, after previously joining a boycott in 2023.

Industry experts believe Elon Musk’s close ties with Trump, will likely spur advertisers to return to the platform.

President Donald Trump 2024

Trump has apparently put some guy called Kennedy in charge of health despite him supporting lying / spreading misinformation about Covid and the vaccines !!

Sounds like a weird move

That's one of the least things to be concerned about with "that guy called Kennedy", he's barely on planet Earth. Which he probably believes is flat.

And is it weirder than crawling into bed with Musk and creating a fictional govt. department named after the crypto pyramid scheme he's heavily invested in?

How little people know about what is right in front of their faces is currently baffling to me.

It'll be declared that "just the woke lefties" are leaving but a tonne of moderate/actually normal people are done with it as well. Of course they'll still have big userbase because unfortunately, there are a lot of "those folks" out there, more than enough to keep it going and keep it making money, but it'll just be yet another Trump/Musk banal nonsense echo chamber. No serious adult is going to be using it in 6 months time.

Much like this forum let's face it :joker:.

No, three of the four are politically mercenary and have gone where the current is strongest for their own needs. The fact that they "used to be democrat" does demonstrate something important -- but it's not that the "Republicans are better". Though nor am I saying that they're inherently worse. I'm more saying that it's more accurate than ever to look at it as "The red team and the blue team" - there's no coherent historical political ideology fuelling it. They're Republicans because the Republican base was most malleable to what they're selling. These are businesspeople.

I say 3 of the 4, RFK Jr is a different case and just living on another planet. Quite indisputably not very well.

bots 17-11-2024 02:18 PM

the lines in american politics are being redrawn. Republicans have traditionally been quite far to the right and the dems still right of centre. Then in more recent times, the dems have moved to the left. Maga have found support in the poorer, uneducated sector of society that was traditionally democrat, hence why we are seeing lots of trump voters now saying, i didnt know i was voting for that ......

On the other hand, for the dems to suggest that they are not driven by corporate mega donors is a lie, both sides are, because thats who holds the real power in america. It doesn't matter who you vote for, it's the corporations that ultimately benefit. That is the real system that needs to be torn down, but it will never happen

user104658 17-11-2024 02:30 PM

The slightly cynical attempt of the Dems to capture the "progressive" vote (that they mistakenly thought was bigger than it is) does not make them left-leaning. The Democrats are still economically firmly right-of-centre. Despite the rhetoric, there is no meaningful leftist presence in US politics - that's entirely Red smoke and mirrors.

user104658 17-11-2024 02:33 PM

It's worth remembering the idea that, the further to the right one positions oneself, the more the centre starts to look like it's way off to YOUR left, which is very different to the objective left of the centre ground.

And vice-versa of course. I'd never say otherwise. I'm all too aware that my very moderate stance on gender politics has me branded, by some, as some sort of right-wing TERF shill :joker:.

I'm not sure how much of this is rhetoric as I don't live in the United States, but identity politics is just toxic for the voter base. Bleating on about surface level traits while doing nothing for the working class (of either sex or any race) does nothing for anyone.
