Just got back from watching DH: Part 2 again.

This time in 3D. TBH didn't really notice the difference. And there were certain scenes where the picture was blurry even with the glasses on. Was just a waste.

But the film itself was good. I think the ending was a little abrupt and simple details that help the plot come together were left out, and yet the film felt short. If they'd just padded it out with the extra detail and made it just a little longer. The scenes in the pensieve being one thing as a few people I've spoke to didn't quite understand the point of half of those.

And also Maggie Smith was quite the badass for a 76 year old and just noticed the scene that Hagrid carries Harry's body up to the castle and Ginny screams is the one and only time I've seen decent acting from Bonnie Wright.

She's such a brave lady considering she was suffering from cancer during the filming of Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows.

Aww, I had no idea. Just looked it up, glad she's made/making a full recovery.

Smithy 23-07-2011 11:40 PM

omgz, it was so amazing :worship:

It could have been longer I think, and I've had like to have seen more of the battle, but yeah

Although I still don't get why they moved his death to the boat house rather than the shrieking shack

Ninastar 23-07-2011 11:52 PM

Im glad you liked it smithy! what was your fave part? The battle is amazing

Smithy 23-07-2011 11:56 PM

Yeah, the battle was good, so was the Gringotts break in

Neville's speech was so cringey D:

Ninastar 24-07-2011 12:01 AM

there was loads cringey. I liked Nevilles speech though

Smithy 24-07-2011 12:36 AM

omg really D:

and how amazing was mcgonagall  her and mrs weasley were so fierce

Glenn. 24-07-2011 01:00 AM

I went to see it again tonight, and I was quite surprised to see the cinema packed still.

I've seen it 3 times now, and I still get a tad emotional at the end.

Callum 24-07-2011 12:43 PM

One thing I noticed when watching the scenes in the boathouse was that there was a Gryffindor scarf behind Snape. Shows they sort too soon.

My favorite scenes in the film are probably when McGonagall is walking to the courtyard with Mrs Weasley and Neville behind her. All the dialogue there is great, I love the "boom?" "boom!" bit  and McGonagall's comments about Seamus and pyrotechnics and I always get chills watching the teachers and Mrs Weasley put up the protection. The music for that part is so fitting too.

I think its weird how the Weasley parents are just randomly there

Question: When HP died/Voldemort killed his own Horcrux. Does that now mean HP can't speak parceltongue and all that?

Yes, he lost all the Voldemort related powers. The part of his soul in Harry was the source of their "link".

I loved the bit when the Order all burst through the door in the Great Hall. It was slightly cringey but I loved it.
Could have done without the "he's in here" speech from Neville. I really wanted someone to thump him to shut up.

Lucius and Narcissa were very good in the little parts they were given aswell. Especially when she asked if Draco was still alive.

And the Kings Cross part is the first time since PoA I've seen Michael Gambon as Dumbledore. In 4, 5 and 6 he was too moody and shouty.

Marc 24-07-2011 12:59 PM

LOL Neville had a great role in this film. And all my female friends on facebook have noted how attractive he has got over the years  I'm sure he'll be getting some more work from this.

Narcissa was great in the film :) I loved when she saved Harry (technically)

Snape was probably the best character

Definitely. I thought Richard Harris was a perfect Dumbledore :(

Marc 24-07-2011 01:20 PM

Aw Richard Harris

He did well for two films though... can't help him dying, Gabon was a good replacement.

I think I'd have liked him more if he was Dumbledore from the start and I didn't have anyone to compare him to. Harris was literally exactly how I imagined Dumbledore to be reading the books. I think Gambon did do a good job though, he just seemed too angry in some films.

GoF for one, when Harry's name came out of the Goblet.

Marc 24-07-2011 01:29 PM

I liked the angry side, especially in HBP, the cave scene would not have worked well if it had a more passive Dumbledore. But I agree Harris was great and he was so old and ancient, just like a 150 or so year old wizard should be like :D

I want to watch all the old films now.. Potter-athron

InOne 24-07-2011 01:40 PM

The Malfoys really stood out in this. Glad they didn't show them as random death eaters or anything. Showed them as parents who loved their son more than Voldermort, which is true to the book.

King Gizzard 24-07-2011 01:42 PM

I've never really liked Gambon as Dumbledore - there isn't the same warmth Richard Harris had

Richard Harris was also the exact mental image I had when I start reading the books as well

Callum 24-07-2011 01:46 PM

Yeah whenever I read the books I always imagine Dumbledore speaking in a calm soft tone not like Michael Gambon who seems to have made Dumbledore Irish.

Part 2 made an estimated $14.6 million this Friday. A 84% drop from last Friday's record. Captain America is currently in the lead for this weekend's box office.
Sad to hear this, I thought it could cling on to the top spot for another week but then again it did have the biggest opening weekend ever and Captain America is another pretty big film.

Marc 24-07-2011 05:33 PM

Well considering the opening weekend was ridiculously high the percentage drop shouldn't bother the fans, lets face it Captain America looks dreadful :bored: it wont have staying power

Lewis. 24-07-2011 05:33 PM

Just shows that most people went to see it on the first day.

Callum 24-07-2011 06:09 PM

This song seems fitting what with all the sad news this weekend.

Marc 24-07-2011 06:10 PM

I need some upbeat stuff Callum else I'm gonna kill myself

Stu 24-07-2011 06:43 PM

Gambon is Dumbledore for me. I cannot imagine Harris making a better job of the more fleshed out Dumbledore once he becomes a character of note and depth as opposed to simply being the old headmaster bloke who sits at the center of the table, may-as-well-be-father-christmas figure of the first few films.

It actually shocks me that such a large proportion of the fans didn't like Gambon.
