the whole point of restrictions is supposed to be to stop the nhs being overwhelmed and as the nhs has less than half the patients it had at this time last year, why would we have restrictions

The whole omicron thing will be done and dusted by mid january

Mr Johnson deserves credit for his readiness to withstand the bombardment
from scientists and opposition politicians for ever more draconian controls
even as the risks recede. He has sought to keep a sense of perspective by
responding to
real-world experience rather than modelling and he needs to stick with it.
Scientists argue that we cannot be sure what will happen next so we had
better be safe. But that is a recipe for paralysis when we must adapt to live
with the virus.

It is extraordinary that with most people vaccinated, many three times, and
with millions developing natural protection we need to endure another winter of controls.
School closures have even been mooted in the event of further Covid
outbreaks. Why? The children are hardly affected and if they are ill they should stayhome.
The constant testing and classroom shutdowns are having a dreadful impact on education
and the mental wellbeing of our youngest people

it is a slight rise though when matched against the infection rate which has gone through the roof. That is the point he is making

Nicky91 28-12-2021 04:19 PM

people with real mental health issues do not even think of going out

oh yes i can know this because i have mental illness myself with my autism

most with real mental health problems are very introverted

so those youths who cannot go out to party and then cry for attention how it is affecting them mentally, they mock mental health not me

Evidence from the UK suggests Australia should have backed AstraZeneca

Evidence from the UK has sparked concern that Australia backed the wrong
Covid vaccine, with one vaccine tipped to last forever.

Evidence from the United Kingdom shows Australia may have backed the wrong
Covid vaccine, with the maligned AstraZeneca jab offering potential protection
from the virus for life.

Early research has shown that Britain’s wide use of the Oxford University-made
jab in vulnerable people may be behind the country’s lower death toll
compared to Europe in recent months.

AZ is the predominant vaccine in the UK for those aged over 40.

“If you look across Europe, with the rise in cases, there‘s also a
corresponding lagged rise in deaths, but not in the UK, and we have to
understand that,’ he told the UK’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

“I personally believe that‘s because most of our vulnerable people were given
the AstraZeneca vaccine.

“We‘ve seen early data that the Oxford jab produces a very durable cellular
response and if you’ve got a durable cellular immunity response then they
can last for a long time.

“It can last for life in some cases.”

I’m no stats geek but to my mind this isn’t as slight rise at the end ..

.

This is what I’d call a slight rise ..
