Coronation Street's Antony Cotton might have lost out on the Most Popular Actor at the recent National Television Awards, but he's not bitter.

In fact, the bubbly blond was delighted just to be nominated alongside handsome Scottish thesp David Tennant, who claimed the honour for the second year in a row.

Cotton said: "He's a gorgeous and beautiful man and it's great to be up against him."

He added: "He's a fabulous actor and a fabulous man so it was a huge honour to even be in the same category tonight. And he's gorgeous."

Vera's death odd's
It had to happen! Betting is already underway as to how Vera Duckworth will shuffle off her mortal coil. The Mirror reports that there are even odds that she will die from a terminal illness but some of the other methods just seem a bit strange. Electrocution? Carbon Monoxide poisoning?

Well, yes, these things happen, but all in all, I think Vera's exit will be less out of the ordinary though there *are* 3-1 odds that she will be murdered and Terry Duckworth is the odds-on favourite to do the deed. I'm voting for a heart attack or stroke, with Jack saying his last words to his unconscious swampduck. I would like to see Terry return for either the lead up or the funeral and maybe we will get some interaction between Terry and his son Paul. There could be some resentment there. Terry was supposed to donate his kidney to Paul but bottled out and scarpered with the cash instead. It's all speculation, of course, because ITV are going to keep their storyline cards close to their collective chests though I suspect something will leak out closer to the time. We'll blog it if it idoes!
