I’ve prob missed out loads but these are the ones I remember.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
http://i.imgur.com/vPhefaK.jpg
Entertaining enough, slightly too dark. 5/10

Lucy
http://i.imgur.com/DAykaoV.jpg
Almost great, felt rushed towards the end 6/10

Oculus
http://i.imgur.com/HZ6YmTI.jpg
Very competent horror, hope the director stays in the genre 6/10

The Rover
http://i.imgur.com/he2XBjX.jpg
Didn’t think I’d like this, but I found it very interesting. The acting is brilliant. 7/10

Cold in July
http://i.imgur.com/mFOgb5h.jpg
Again this one is well acted, I found the story pretty original 7/10

The Judge
http://i.imgur.com/urRhZDO.jpg
A fine cast and a decent script, very watchable 6/10

Blue Ruin
http://i.imgur.com/wkqYTQd.jpg
A bleak revenge film 4/10

Camp X Ray
http://i.imgur.com/K2lpeG7.jpg
I found it worth viewing for Kristen, but I expected more 6/10

Gone Girl
http://i.imgur.com/TGgZTp9.jpg
Movie about a bunch of assholes 3/10

The Town that Dreaded Sundown
http://i.imgur.com/Q7927ee.jpg
A retro slasher film, pretty well made 5/10

Stretch
http://i.imgur.com/DPffOJI.jpg
Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be 6/10

Hercules
http://i.imgur.com/WQ2Xem9.jpg
Type of movie you switch off your brain for, fun 5/10

Begin Again
http://i.imgur.com/a54NZsZ.jpg
The music was so-so, that was disappointing, and that dick from Maroon 5 was in it 4/10

The Giver
http://i.imgur.com/jAcw8f4.jpg
Hmm… this could have been really good, but it fell short for me 6/10

Guardians of the Galaxy
http://i.imgur.com/nx6Ue8l.jpg
It’s a wonderful film, one of the best superhero movies I’ve seen 8/10

Third Person
http://i.imgur.com/vojQUH9.jpg
There are three or four interconnected stories that are each interesting but the film is let down by the ending, I found it to be confusing. 4/10

Are You Here
http://i.imgur.com/Ve6sBNx.jpg
I like both Zach & Owen, so I did enjoy most of the humour, however Amy’s comedic talents are wasted 5/10

The Captive
http://i.imgur.com/3qvd9wg.jpg
A harrowing story about a kidnapping and how it affects the parents 7/10

The Maze Runner
http://i.imgur.com/rItZhEH.jpg
It really felt like a boys film. and the maze, although it looks breathtaking, I found it underwhelming, I expected more traps or adventure or somthing 6/10

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
http://i.imgur.com/Kcs4yLt.jpg
I had really low expectations for this, but it’s entertaining 5/10

The Purge Anarchy
http://i.imgur.com/CJ6rssT.jpg
I found this to be slightly better than the first, I like the concept so I hope they make another 6/10

Kristy
http://i.imgur.com/JVAjeRW.jpg
I love when horrors work and I believe this one does, the casting was perfect and there's creepiness throughout 8/10

Left Behind
http://i.imgur.com/PSakQj1.jpg
This was good, the dialogue was below average at times and the plot is pretty religious. nonetheless I thought it was entertaining. It has Nicolas Cage, what more do you need in a movie 6/10

The Next Three Days - 7.5/10 - I remember seeing the trailer for this a few years back when I was at the pictures watching something else and wanting to watch it, but I guess I just forgot about it until I saw it on Netflix last week. It was really good anyway, possibly even better than I was expecting it to be. Definitely underrated.

Homefront - 5/10 - I don't usually like Jason Statham in movies but he done a good job here and actually pulled off the role, decent storyline as well. I didn't really find James Franco that intimidating in his role though (and he was the reason I actually watched this), and despite being good it doesn't really stand out from other movies in its genre.

Rounders - 5/10 - Matt Damon & Ed Norton both turned in good performances and I thought the subject matter was interesting (gambling addiction) but the ending was very predictable.

jOBS - 4/10 - When it was first announced Ashton Kutcher was going to be playing Steve Jobs I was one of the very small minority that thought he was actually a good choice (mainly based on his performance in Butterfly Effect), and after now seeing the film I still stand by him being a good choice, he gave a decent performance (though not oustanding) and definitely wasn't the problem with this film. I felt like they got some parts of it spot on (the iPod reveal in the opening scene, Macintosh, etc), but I don't think they delved deep enough into how he alienated everyone around him. Overall it was a decent effort but felt more like a TV movie, Christian Bale and Aaron Sorkin will have a better version coming out in a couple of years.

Get the Gringo - 7/10 - Good old Mel still managing to find a great script and turn in a brilliant performance despite being blacklisted from Hollywood, you just can't keep a good man down. The fight scenes reminded me of a Tarantino movie, too.

World War Z - 7/10 - Heard mixed things about this when it first came out which put me off watching but I enjoyed it and thought it was a really good film. I liked how they explored countries all over the world and didn't just do what zombie movies usually do and just focus on one area/country. James Badge Dale was brilliant in his small-ish role. Looking forward to the sequel.

22 Jump Street - 6.5/10 - I enjoyed the first one but I liked this one even more. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are a really good pair, I think I read a couple of weeks back that they're making a third movie and I definitely think that's the right choice.. Also helped that Ice Cube had a bigger role in this one, cos his character is great.

The Road - 9/10 - Brilliant. I didn't know beforehand but the novel was written by the same guy that wrote No Country For Old Men, so I'm not surprised it was so good. Such a good cast (even though most only have small roles), the storyline is brilliant and there are many touching scenes.. Definitely going on my favourites list.

..I agree, that's probably one of my favourite movies as well...and it's amazing how easily it dispelled Aragorn as well as that was the only thing that I had known Viggo Mortensen for, he's an excellent actor...

Before I Go To Sleep - 8/10

Yeah, I think LOTR is the only other thing I've ever seen him in as well. Been meaning to watch his movie A History of Violence for about 5 years but never gotten around to it.

Zombieland 8/10

Zombies, comedy and Emma Stone, can't go wrong really.

The highway scene was the exact same highway they used for The Walking Dead

Very good choice Drew

Blended 6/10
Just Go With It 6/10

Interstellar - 9/10

Been looking forward to this for about a year and it was definitely worth the wait. They got the balance between time on earth and time in space spot on and it flowed perfectly, every single one of the characters was interesting as well which is pretty rare. The visual effects are the best I have ever seen, can't believe they didn't use any green screens to accomplish what they did. It's definitely one of those films that has got to be watched on a big screen to get the most out of it (mainly for the visuals I just mentioned), great performances as well especially from McConaughey and the girl that played young Murphy.

Sticks 08-11-2014 05:46 AM

Hmmm

According to Phil Plait, an astronomer, the science in that was awful (See spoiler laden review)

Drew. 12-11-2014 04:24 PM

World War Z - 7/10

Pretty good film, went into it thinking it would be scary as Locke made out it was but it was pretty tame really. Some of the big scenes like the plane crash and Jerusalem being invaded by the zombies were great. There aren't really that many key characters in the movie apart from Brad & it seemed like there was too much to fit into the movie, it all moved along too quickly.

Bad Grandpa - 7/10

Good movie, some of the scenes were hilarious and the little kid was great.

21 And Over - 7/10

Funny throughout, did remind me a lot of the Hangover though.
