According to the new numbers released by Box Office Mojo, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2' is now No. 3 All-time Worldwide having grossed $1.13 billion worldwide.

It passed 'Toy Story 3' and 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' to take hold of third place. Only 'Avatar' and 'Titanic' have made more.

:amazed:

Callum 08-08-2011 12:25 AM

Read that yesterday, good to hear, hope it can hold on to the 3rd highest grossing for a good while, it would have to make another $700 million to be no. 2.

Oh god, the Prince's Tale was ruined by those three child actors. They were awful. I would have thought they'd have really pushed for a good one to play young Snape. Seemed like they just stuck a long, black wig on a crew member's nephew and felt that was enough, lol.

Everything about that sequence was perfect.

The sequence was almost perfect if it weren't for the awful line delivery of those little kids.

Harry Potter tribute to be shown at the Teen Choice Awards tonight

Novo 08-08-2011 12:58 AM

What time do those awards start?

Novo 08-08-2011 12:58 AM

Would make a thread but i doubt anyone would be interested

Locke. 08-08-2011 01:07 AM

Thought it might have got #1 on the highest grossing.. not chance if it's so far off second place.

The #1 spot will have to wait for The Hobbit to be released

The 2011 Teen Choice Awards paid special tribute to the Harry Potter series tonight.
Actors Tom Felton and Rupert Grint accepted 7 awards on behalf of the films, with Dan Radcliffe joining in via satellite from NYC at the show's end.
Here is a list of what Potter took home:
- Choice Movie Summer Actor - Daniel Radcliffe, Deathly Hallows - Part 2
- Choice Movie Summer Actress - Emma Watson, Deathly Hallows - Part 2
- Choice Movie Actress, Sci Fi/Fantasy - Emma Watson
- Choice Movie, Sci Fi/Fantasy - Deathly Hallows - Part 1
- Choice Summer Movie - Deathly Hallows - Part 2
- Choice Villain - Tom Felton
- Choice Movie Liplock - Daniel Radcliffe & Emma Watson, Deathly Hallows - Part 1
Amazing news :D They usually get overlooked at the awards ceremonies so it's great to see them finally pick up a lot of awards, even if it is the Teen Choice awards.

Marsh. 08-08-2011 05:01 PM

What a shame Rupert didn't get anything.

InOne 08-08-2011 07:44 PM

Gonna have to see it one more time before it goes out the cinemas, it's already on at dodgy times now here

With $348 million grossed at the domestic box office, Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is now the top grossing film of 2011 here in the United States. It recently passed Transformers: Dark of the Moon which has made $345 million to date.
Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman had this to say:
"In a crowded and very competitive summer, it is a tribute to both the film and the people behind it that moviegoers are still turning out to enjoy it - whether for the first time or for a repeat viewing."
Of course, the film remains No. 3 all-time worldwide, currently with $1.150 billion. According to Warner Bros. president of international distribution, Vernoica Kwan-Rubinek:
"The filmmakers and cast, who dedicated their talents to the success of these films for over a decade, share in this piece of cinema history. We congratulate and thank them all."
Good to hear! Going to watch it again tomorrow, one of those films that doesn't feel boring with repeat viewings.

Marsh. 12-08-2011 07:06 PM

Just rewatching Half-Blood Prince and was enjoying it and then realised why I didn't like it the first time. Too much cheesy romance.

And, also, every actor cast as Voldemort/Tom Riddle (bar Ralph Fiennes) is absolutely awful. The actor playing him during the Horcrux reveal scene with Slughorn was terribly hammy and ruined the entire thing.

Just thought I'd share that because it's aggravating, lol.

Callum 12-08-2011 07:37 PM

Yeah Half-Blood Prince felt like an attempt to try and win some of the Twilight audience with all of the romance going on. It's a shame because in the book romance is such a small subplot compared to the bigger one that is Horcruxes, which is barely touched on in the film. But yeah I agree about that scene too, it always makes me cringe and I think even Jim Broadbent as Slughorn played the role too OTT at times.

HBP is my least favourite, to be honest.

And WTF at Dumbledore basically asking Harry if he and Hermione are together? I don't remember that in the book. It felt like an obvious attempt at telling the audience "Don't focus on H/H because it isn't happening". lol

Just before he shows him another memory on the much more important Horcruxes plot, how completely random. This is my first proper watch of HBP so I'm finding things that are really winding me up. I didn't like David Yates' directing until DH: Part 1 either.

Can't believe how much I hated his work on 5 and 6 and yet loved 7 and 8. Must be the writer's fault.

Steve Kloves has always been a H/H shipper so that line didn't surprise me in the slighest, if he had his way the canon would have had them ending up together.

Callum 13-08-2011 12:05 PM

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on ITV1 tonight at 6.25pm. Think this is the last one they're showing because they can't show Half-Blood Prince yet. Good that it's being shown in a primetime slot though.

Callum 13-08-2011 09:38 PM

Amazon France have put up a listing for the complete Harry Potter film box set. We all knew there would be one and here's what's likely to be the first of many.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg

Includes 16 discs (each Potter film and bonus features) and comes with the Elder Wand mounted on top of the box. Set to be released November 30th so looks like Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be out on DVD/Blu-ray in November. :D

Callum 14-08-2011 03:32 PM

Blu-ray.com is reporting that the U.S. DVD and Blu-ray release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will take place on Friday, November 11, 2011 - incidentally the opening day of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter's big celebration event on the film series in Orlando, Florida.

I hope we get it on the same day and don't have to wait until the following Monday.

there's a petition going round regarding Extended Versions of the films. It probably won't come to anything but the more people who sign, the stronger the chance that they will release them.

Here's why they're wanted:

Quote:

The point of this petition is to persuade Warner Bros. to produce Extended Versions of the Harry Potter films for a DVD/Blu-Ray release.

From various photographs, set reports and interviews, there is actually a huge amount of content that has been filmed that we have not seen.

Did you know that Order Of The Phoenix had a whopping 45-minutes of content cut from the film? (http://m.leakynews.com/2006/10/27/oo...er-three-hours)

The majority of that cut footage has not been released to the general public, including such scenes as:

-The brain room in the Department Of Mysteries.

-The full battle at the Ministry.

-The full "Snape's Worst Memory" flashback.
-Umbridge and Ministry employees trying to remove Hagrid from the school and Professor McGonagall attempting to protect him.

-A later scene of McGonagall recovering from the attack in a wheelchair.

And this is just from one film. Imagine the plethora of footage from all eight films that Warner Bros. has hidden away!
Here are several videos which contain images and footage of scenes that we have not seen in the completed films which could be consider for Extended Versions:
