Really? I would have imagined that would be important in something like the World Cup, where everyone is dying to brag about how 'we' are going to win it.
This is why I can't stand the sport. It's a medium of control, nothing more. Keep the public happy. I'm not denying the huge amount of skill, dedication and talent involved but the idea that an Italian can coach the English to the World Cup and possibly win it just tears down the entire ludicrous sport in my eyes. Same with 'club loyalty'. The managers don't have it. The players don't have it. Why do the fans? Because they need something to believe in and follow and they chose a colour shirt with a logo on it rather than an interest that would better their life in a more fulfilling way.
I'm still not sure why I'm in the minority with that view.
