Im sorry if I was meant to put spoiler tags on the last part lol.

MTVN 02-07-2011 12:59 AM

I've watched all the first season over the last week, it is an amazing series, I think I just presumed it was overrated and wouldnt be that good. Best character:

I did think the last episode was a little disappointing though, but only in comparison to the one before it, the 9th and the 7th eps were the best imo

Does anyone know when the second series is likely to be due? Guess it wont be for a few months or more

Locke. 02-07-2011 01:05 AM

Tyrion :worship: He is even better in the books.

Season 2 isn't until April 2012

Oh right thought it'd be a while, I'm tempted to read the books, does it ruin it at all knowing what's gonna happen?

Locke. 02-07-2011 01:20 AM

I've only just started the second one now and hadn't read the first when I was watching the show.

It will probably ruin the twists and things but it explains the storylines and characters a lot better than the show has. And every time I googled something to do with the show there would be a spoiler in the suggested search bar.. So I'd rather read it in the book and be shocked than read it on the internet and be pissed off about ruining it

Ok cheers, I think I'll give it a read then. I've also just realised that the guy who plays Tyrion played the little boss guy in Elf, I was trying to remember where I recognised him from the whole time

Mystic Mock 04-07-2011 02:05 PM

The actor who plays Tyrion is also in Threshold.

Locke. 04-07-2011 02:07 PM

He is the gay midget in Death at a Funeral :worship:

Finished this series last week, absolutely loved every minute of it .

I'm thinking of watching it again, it's only 10 episodes so won't take up too much time. I was confused in parts so a re-watch is definitely the way to go.

Mt favorite character is also Tyrion, I just love his sarcasm.

Locke. 07-07-2011 01:14 PM

What parts were you confused about?

It was the first few episodes, I struggle to work out who was related to who. The Starks were easy to follow but the Lannisters were much harder.

Also I found it difficult to figure who was where, only the Starks and Winterfell were clear to me near the beginning.

I grasped it more around ep 4/5

As the stories started to piece together it all started to make sense. Which I why I want to do a re-watch. As much as I loved the whole series I'm really thirsty to watch it again, know what I know now.

Tom4784 07-07-2011 01:49 PM

Yeah I think some of the relationships weren't really presented well enough in the first few episodes, it's probably one of the few flaws I can think of with the series.

MTVN 07-07-2011 01:51 PM

Yeah I did get a bit confused at the start, had to keep thinking about all the different relations the characters had to each other

Bought the first book yesterday as well, gonna start reading it tonight I think :D

Locke. 07-07-2011 01:52 PM

I'm about half way through book 2 and so far it is amazing. Didn't think Season 1 would be topped but it looks like it will be.

Visage 07-07-2011 01:59 PM

I think when you watch a show like GoT where names and places are words you're not familiar with it's harder to take it all in. With the Starks, you had Rob, Jon, Ned, Catelyn, Bran and even King Robert which were easy to follow from their first few scenes.

Like I say though once I was mid-way through it started to come together.

I've just been reading back on this thread and watching the trailers posted (I never check anything out when I'm watching something for the first time) as really whet my appetite.

Tom4784 07-07-2011 04:14 PM

I'm gonna get the book tommorow, I won't read the second one until after series 2 finishes though as then I won't be disappointed when I watch it.

GypsyGoth 10-07-2011 01:10 AM

I watched the final ep a couple of nights ago. I really like the series, but I think it's strange the way characters like Ned Stark and Drogo are gone. I thought they'd be a lot more in it. I guess I've found it very unpredictable, I suppose that's a good thing.

Locke. 10-07-2011 01:14 AM

Ned dying was the most shocking thing i've seen in a tv show before. Was handled much better in the show aswell than in the book. In the book he doesn't notice Arya in the crowd, and because the chapter he dies in is from Arya's POV and she is pulled down by Yoren, his death isn't really described.

It isn't made clear in the show though that Ned is killed by his own sword, that he beheaded the Nights Watch deserter in episode 1 with.

I agree it was shocking, I was sure he'd be saved, and that was why at the end of part 8 you just hear a sound but don't see it happen. I thought someone would have killed the executioner guy.

Is the dwarf guy as good a character in the book?

Locke. 10-07-2011 01:58 AM

Yeah he is just as good.

I think, if he isn't already, that he'll become most peoples favourite character during the second season

Wildcat! 10-07-2011 08:27 AM

Funny. I saved these short series, until it finishes, then I watch them in one go online. I am too impatient, to see the next episode, so I prefer it that way. So Ive watched all of them the past few weeks. Awesome series. My favorite character, is the little swordsman\girl, lol.

You guys would like the Borgias too, if it shows in the UK, I dont know, so check it out, if you like these types of series.

Sean Bean is so type casted since LOTR.. :bored:

Remember the good days when he played Alec Trevelyan

When I saw a small advert for Game of Thrones I was immediately intrigued, it had all the makings of what I love about this type of a series. When I learned Bean was in, I hesitated. I have never enjoyed this actor.

That said I still watched it and crazy as it sounds I loved him in this and my opinion of him really changed.

I too was absolutely shocked and gutted that he was killed off. I had hoped there was going to be a twist because we didn't see it actually happen.

I now realise the importance of his death and why it happened.

Locke. 10-07-2011 02:24 PM

Sean Bean was probably the main reason I started watching

Visage 10-07-2011 02:31 PM

I'm seriously thinking about investing in the books. I simply can't wait until the next season is out.

Problem is when I read books I have this nasty habit of pulling the screen version down.
