You can't seriously be suspicious of Sam and whether they said 70% hearing on some other game show and 70% loss of hearing on this game show. HE didn't say it!

They guy has a hearing disability. You can hear he has a hearing disability. Deal with it ffs.

Dexter used the "I have no friends" excuse and you're going to pull Sam up and question him something that's medically provable!!

Jesus... I give up!

When I read the DOND blurb it says he said it himself. I don't think anyone is doubting his hearing loss in any way whatsoever - we're just discussing the possibilities that there might have been some discrepancies somewhere along the line. Please don't give up on us...

Yes we know you're perfect and have difficulty Sam.
Just open the bloody thing !

He's a nice enough lad and maybe I'm unfair.
It just really wound me up ! :(

Those are the basic FACTS, agreed.

No I'm referring to his seemingly lack of co-ordination or eyesight.

Like I said, I don't mean to be mean but It annoyed me how slow he was.
Was almost like he was milking it for all he was worth.

Why are you twisting words? He is the one who made the statements
!. that he has 70% of his hearing and

2. He has LOST 70% of his hearing,

No one is questioning the fact that he has a hearing loss!

Kazanne 15-08-2013 03:28 PM

hasn't he got 70% in one ear and so much in the other? Also hearing aids can vary in their amplification.

For me the issue is not that he obviously has a hearing loss, the issue is his giving different accounts of its severity.

Vicky. 15-08-2013 03:44 PM

Maybe just a miscomunication/mistype on DONDs part.

I think its quite obvious that Sam is very deaf, much moreso than 30%

Yeah I would agree with that, I don't think he has misled anyone about how deaf he is.

Looks like he whole transcript is totally flawed.

He told us himself he was about 3 when it was discovered.

Any loss of hearing or eyesight is discovered once they attend primary school, before they are 5 .:conf:

I took this snippet from the link provided to post below so people can get some understanding on Sams hearing loss.
Many people on here still believe that he has only has 30% hearing. The quote below is from Sam himself on this matter.

Quote: Sam talks about his hearing disability and how it wasn't discovered until he was 7. He says he was very fortunate to be able to recover to have 70% of his hearing.

I dont see why we are debating how deaf Sam is based on a few words written down? To me it extremely obvious that he has much less than 30% hearing loss..

If someone can find the actual show on the 4 player or whatever where he actually SAYS these words then it might be a different story.

Even though his hearing could have got worse in he 6 months between dond and bb

According to he in depth analysis of housemates on bbbots earlier in the series when Emma was talking to one of those so callled experts they have on as to behaviour and body language.
It was stated that Sam has lost 70% of his total hearing,he relies more on looking at people full on and lipreading what they say.

Well I saw it on BBBOTS and he was not exposed as a fake at all.
He genuinely thought BB meant that someone would be walking out with money. It could not be him because he chose first and picked the highest amount.

90% in one ear which means he is almost totally deaf on one side. The other ear is 80%.
What people do not realise is that hearing aids also present problems especially when there is a room full of people. That is when you see Sam look towards ( Callum in the past) and Gina. He has praised Gina for the attention she pays by being polite enough to let him finish a sentence and she will repeat instructions for him.

As one housemate said on live feed. 'Sam wont hear he has his hearing aids out'. They were yelling at the time.

Sam certainly talks as if he has been very deaf.

Well he will have 70% of his hearing with aids.

You can tell by his speech that he has had speech therapy so he is very deaf without his aids.

Incredible that anyone should want to use his deafness against him.

That's right he only has 30% of his natural hearing and you are also right as to the noise when wearing a hearing aid.

It is sad when people don't realise just how hard it is for those who are hard of hearing to cope in groups and noisy places.

Your last few lines are also 100% spot on so very well said.

Yes Joey..and this is what Sam is trying to do by being a role model, bring awareness to the Viewing public. Quite amazing (not in a nice way) how ignorant people are about deafness.
