Mick Jagger - Arrested for assault.
Lil Kim - Arrested for possessing marijuana.
Eminem - Charged with assault and having a concealed weapon.
Paul Mccartney - Arrested in Japan with 8oz of marijuana in his suitcase.
James Brown - Did 3 years for theft when he was a teenager.
John Lennon - Possession of marijuana.
Steven Tyler - Possession of marijuana.
Whitney Houston - Possession of marijuana.
George Michael, 50 Cent, Tupak, the list goes on..

Of course, the moralising, hand-wringing brigade never bought any of these artists records or judged them in any way. Oh no.

Not a single one of them was basically begging for a career on national TV every week. They are/were actual artists. People on Xfactor are not.

Verbal 20-10-2013 10:21 AM

Every one of the ones you've listed have also been demonised in the papers in their time because of what they have done. This woman is just current. Stupid argument.

Oh that's ok then. They were famous, she isn't.

She is current, she is on TV every week. The show she is on has internet forums dedicated to it. People are going to discuss the people on that show. Not everybody is going to agree. Not everybody is going to like what other people say.

Sign of the times.

No she is, as those artists were, in the public eye and will be judged whether you like it or not. The fact that 3 separate things have now come to light muddies her reputation even more. Can't do the time (in this case bad press and judgements) dont do the crime, simple really.

Who gives a ****? You choose to justify the others crimes because they were famous.

Most of the artists I listed were at the height of their fame. On TV. I'm struggling to see your point.

Who is justifying crime? They've all been slagged and ripped apart on the Internet. Its what happens. Try not to take it to heart you'll give yourself a connery*.

Thankfully a 'muddy reputation' didn't hinder the careers of the artists I mentioned.

I put that down to the hand-wringers being big fat hypocrites.

Who's having a 'connery'?

I'm replying to posts. Now stop posting hyperbole. It's unnecessary.

Samm 20-10-2013 10:51 AM

don't try and argue with him Wong he does not like anything.

Think we should just leave if now. Looks to me like there's a tad bit of trolling going on.

...that depends whether you're intending to audition for XFactor....

..seriously, it's the first time I've read this thread..there were some 'Boots' comments in the show's thread last night and I didn't understand them, but now I do...anyway, I don't condone what she's done but it has no bearing on her..(what I feel is extremely good..) talent ...for me, whatever her 'problems' may have been and for what she's done, then it makes me in a way more supportive of her in the show because it will change her life so much...

Ninastar 20-10-2013 11:05 AM

I agree with Verbal. she should be seen as a thief and nothing more.

Benjamin 20-10-2013 11:05 AM

I've taken drugs, hit somebody (they deserved it) and I also shoplifted when I was a teenager (only once or twice). I don't do any of those things now and I can assure you I am not scum of the Earth. We should be basing this comp on their talent not their past (I'm pretty sure most of the acts will have something they are not proud of).

Marc 20-10-2013 11:07 AM

You are though :idc:

Ninastar 20-10-2013 11:08 AM

people say this is a thing she did in the past, but it was only a few months ago surely? I think it takes a hell of a long time for people to mature from things such as stealing/drug taking etc.

how old is this girl? Still a teenager right? Just because she's on a life changing TV show doesn't mean that she's grown up now.

Marc 20-10-2013 11:10 AM

I agree with you there Caitlin, I think this "revelation" will shame her into never doing it again, and the show won't help her mature but will force her to grow up a little faster.

A lot of people on this thread seem to be taking that attitude. I wonder if they would be saying the same if one was done 3 years ago for mugging an old lady or punching a child in the face.

My point was (using myself as an example) not everybody who does those things goes on to be a bad person or lead a bad life.

But she didn't punch an old lady so your argument is invalid.
