I was very happy with the winner. Will start Africa at the weekend.

There's no fun-factor in All Stars, it's all grim.
|
I'm in the minority who really loved the Australian Outback and see it as quite historic/iconic in Survivor terms.
Pretty sure it was the first season where everyone was talking about it and watching it in America, as it was benefiting from the hype of the first season: Spoiler: |
The tedious last few episodes of the post-merge ruin Australia's dazzle for me. Tbh any kind of interest/entertainment leaves right behind Jerri when she's voted out.
I've just began ep01 of All-Stars and loved the opening, was it really as top secret as they made it out to be? :joker: |

So sad to watch...
Spoiler: |
Two episodes into Africa. I find it easier to watch than Australia but I have no faves yet.

omg Braden I'm surprised you didn't even touch on Kathy saying that Jenna's depressed attitude was THE CANCER TO THE TRIBE omfg Kathy is seriously such a demon in All-Stars it's not even funny, and saying that Jenna (whose mom is dying of cancer) is the cancer to their tribe might not even be the worst thing she says. Just wait like, another two or three more episodes.

Well obviously that's what she meant, but her choices of words is legitimately horrifying.
|
Yeah I noticed that too, Macie
I couldn't (kinda can) believe she would say something as stupid as that. But at least she slightly redeemed herself by defending Jenna with her snap comment at Alicia...even though redeeming yourself after such idiocy is impossible. I watched a YT clip of The Early Show where they interviewed Jenna after the episode, and was surprised to hear that she loved Kathy so much. Like, I understand they got on, but I wouldn't have good words to say about her if she were stupid enough to say that in front of me when my mum was dying of cancer. Same with Alicia, I'm surprised Jenna even hugged her when leaving. But I suppose that goes to show how good of a person Jenna is after all. |
+ the whole Richard rubbing his naked self on Sue was crazy.
I love Richard to death (and it's awful that he left when he did in All-Stars (**** Colby)) but what he did was unnecessary. However, Sue sending herself into a state of pure craziness by the situation was even more uncomfortable. But even then, the most uncomfortable part of it all is that no one on her tribe really gave a **** about her well-being, like for Boston Rob to make out that she had her own agenda was pretty awful to me. And then to jokingly celebrate after she leaves...ugh, Chapera is honestly one of the worst tribes of any Survivor I have watched. |
On a lighter note, the Jerri/Shii Ann dynamic in ep07 was amazing :flutter:
& I love that the episode results with the true evil leaving  Shii Ann's voting confessional  |

She really let Jeff have it :o
Kinda wish she took out on her tribe mates though, they were all such dicks to her. I know she was difficult but I personally think they did a good job of making her feel excluded to the point where she went crazy. |
Congrats on getting to the other completely ****ing awful Kathy moment I was alluding to! Like, saying that you don't feel sorry for Sue and you don't like her because she dragged you so far into her CORE OF HATRED is seriously one of the grossest sentiments I've heard on reality TV. Like, she was legitimately offended that Sue dared to be upset after being sexually assaulted in front of everyone on television.
All-Stars is seriously such a misery. |
Ugh All-Stars Kathy was awful. I was so disappointed when I first watched All-Stars because I loved Kathy is Marquesas :(
|
Marquesas Kathy is literally one of my favourite Survivor characters so far.
I'm content with All-Stars as a season, but I'm yet to get to the merge, and I'm pretty sure it gets worse from that point. So I'm not looking forward to that, really. Just out of curiosity; what was the public reaction to the all-stars at the time? Like I gather that Rupert was still really popular, Jerri was still really unpopular, etc. but did the casuals turn on Kathy as much the forums did? Did they love JLew as much as I did? Did they eventually end up hating Tom because he's a piece of ****? (:fc:) All Stars is complicated because I don't even know who is being editing to look good/bad. |
Just focusing on the Sue incident she really didn't get much sympathy at all but I think it was just result of the time period. The season aired in 2003 and obviously a lot of things that were okay in 2013 would not be okay in 2015. Nobody really saw it as a sexual assault and a lot of people just thought she was crazy and overreacted and whatnot. I don't even think Kathy's comments even registered that much with the general viewing audience because they were just throwaway comments in confessionals that I doubt most viewers even remembered.
And yes, Rupert was still absolutely loved and Jerri was still absolutely hated. The reunion is an over the top indication of the latter, and the special after the reunion is an over the top indication of the former. |
