If Taylor Swift was whining about black girls, this would be an entirely different debate. But Nicki is black, so she can use that to her advantage and everyone thinks its a crusade. It's ridiculous.

Exactly. And I like Nicki more than Taylor. I have like 60 nicki songs on my iphone and 0 taylor songs. I just hate when people make something about race when it doesn't need to be. If Nicki was talking about how little black women do well in Hollywood, I'd totally agree and support her. But this time, Miley/Taylor/whoever she's throwing shade at have done a better job and that has nothing to do with skin colour.

I'm not a fan of either of them. Totally agree with you though.

Well when media is "SHOCKED AND OUTRAGED" At your anaconda video but praise jlo and iggy jiggling their butts and Miley writhing naked on a wrecking ball you're going to rant for the double standards.

Anaconda barely made a ripple compared to the outrage at Wrecking Ball and Miley twerking with that blurred lines dude (Barry?)

Media was disgusted with Miley and have treated her like ****e for the past few years. You're right about Jlo, but I have no idea who iggy is.

White oppression rooted so deep within y'all you don't realize y'all doing it. You cry?? Well we can cry louder and collect our rewards and pats on the back while doing so.:nono::nono:

Classic steps of oppression . Piers Morgan

-Act like the fairer skinned one is the victim "I have every sympathy with Taylor, who did absolutely nothing wrong," said Morgan. "And I have no sympathy with Nicki Minaj, who emerges as a whiny brat that just doesn’t like losing." Nevermind noone was actually talking to tswizzzle and the message Nicky was trying to convey was bigger than tswizzle.

-Bring no value to what they're trying to say but pointing out there are other blacks that are tolerated so her argument is invalid "Her charges of racism and big-bodyism are frankly laughable when you consider that three of the five nominations for Video of the Year are black artists" Yeah there are KK members that tolerate one black

-How about talking about your feaux outrage and Taylor swift's cheap piece of feaux feminism? "He said that while she is talented, playing the "race card" is a "cheap piece of faux outrage deliberately designed to stir up unnecessary racial tension where it shouldn’t exist."

I'm not sure you fully understand how offensive that is.

was just about to say the same... I like you and everything, Cece, but it almost seems like you're judging us based on our skin colour :/

I'm a massive lesbian. (duh) I have to sit and listen to people (and sometimes my own family) talk about how disgusting/gross/unnatural it is to be gay. Please don't tell me I don't understand 'oppression' and don't even think acting like I'm privileged because of my skin colour. Racism happens everywhere. Do you live in America? Have you been to America? In some places, black people are even worse than white people. When I was at school, this girl told me not to sit next to her because I was white. I told the teacher and she did nothing. If it had been the other way around, I would have been expelled. To think that racism exists towards people of ANY colour makes me feel sick.

I understand why you're upset. Seriously, I do. But Nicki is fighting a silly battle here. It's nothing to do with skin colour. It's to do with talent. If this had been a few years ago, I'd totally agree with you. But Nicki has been so **** recently.

Sorry if this seems harsh, but I don't like people judging me when they don't know me at all. I love and hate everyone equally. My first ever kiss was a black girl. I look at and judge people for how they act and what they say, not how they look.

Pete. 22-07-2015 09:20 PM

The 'angry black gal vs nice white gal' stereotype continues

lol, thank you I guess. I just hate this whole concept of 'privilege' and 'oppression', because it seems to create this hierarchy where some people think they are better than others and should be treated differently.

I understand that. But when same sex marriage was legalized in America, everyone celebrated "Love wins". Organizations changed their colours, countless tweeted their support and we didn't stop hearing about it. When we talk about black lives matter the response is either silence or "ALL LIVES MATTER" (which is true that all loves matter but that is not the point). We're not allowed to voice our opinions that make the other race uncomfortable but that could help things progress.

"Racism happens everywhere. Do you live in America? Have you been to America?" Cousins and nieces in South Carolina. I hear enough of it.

But privilege and oppression does exist. There's a video of White privilege going around where some white kids are saying they get a sense that things belong to them.

Racism is still rife look at BB15 USA

EspeonBB 22-07-2015 09:41 PM

Obviously racism still exists and white privilege is a huge problem, not only in the U.S. but also in Europe, but Nicki not getting nominated for an award (where several black artists were nominated) is not a case of racism. I don't get why she and several people are trivializing a very serious issue

It's easier to do that than admit that their fave or said person herself is doing ****.

This Taylor was not nominated because she is skinny and white her music video is simply just better the anaconda video is basic nicki needs to take several seats.

armand.kay 22-07-2015 10:09 PM

Nicki should be pressed about bey's tesco value video getting nominated instead.

Anaconda would have been nominated for VOTY if Taylor did not break her record tho
