Why not make it a private thing like the chat threads, for established members.
Wouldn't they be less likely to get offensive to moderators?

It was established members that used it, rarely did an on season or newer member post in there or were even aware of it being there.

I definitely agree with this, I've asked previously for a more clear, harsher infraction system to be put into place but nothing came of it because it wouldn't work apparently, but if people know how many points they're going to get for certain rule breaks I think it would curb it, especially if bans were longer

shouldn't you also admit that some mods were abusing their power. You must admit some mods did abuse their power... BEN.

Also I don't understand why the private queries forum was removed, just ban the few that abused it from using, why have the minority's ruin it for the majority when there's an easy solution for it

We actually have guidelines for infractions. This is the screen we see when we infract people.

There's not many infractions that veer outside those point allocations. Most of the mods are different which is why we moderate ourselves so well but our approaches when it comes to infractions are the same because we all infract people using the same guidelines.

Yes, then I got banned from messaging which made me feel bad like I was harassing you or something

and let's also remember the GREAT members that were driven away from this forum because of unfair modding, like Jesus. we all know Jesus was a great member and added a lot to this forum, but because of unfair modding and being treated unfairly, he is no longer here.

Crimson Dynamo 25-10-2015 09:13 AM

We do have a guideline but we also take other things into account like how often a person is breaking the same rules and so on.

Smithy has a point Kizzy, using this to query or moan about your personal infractions will result in the thread being closed

lostalex 25-10-2015 09:14 AM

repeated inappropriate language... but we have built in censors for that, they automatically censor obscene language, so why is anyone infracted for that if it;s censored automatically?

You only messaged me about an infraction prior to your ban. Not about your ban or the infraction that caused it.

Infractions Active 1/56
Points: 20

 custom infractions like this are ridiculous though, and like josy said, not everything is in the rules so mods have to use thier own initiative, I imagine most of the infractions handed out aren't even on that list because it's usually stuff like "causing drama" "didn't drop it etc" which are all custom infractions and are given out at varying levels depending on the mod, plus why are there 4 different ones for insults

I must've got banned from messaging whilst I was messaging you then

lostalex 25-10-2015 09:17 AM

I feel like the only way to truly solve this is to make me a TiBB Staff.

I feel like i'm the only one really qualified to judge infractions fairly.

Tom4784 25-10-2015 09:18 AM

I think one common misconception is that we choose to ban people, the only time we actively ban people is if we permaban them or put them on three month bans. The rest are automatic bans caused by people going over the limit of allotted infraction points. People rarely get banned for one thing, it's usually a build up that will lead to a ban.

Yeah I'm not a fan of custom infractions, we should all play by the rules.

Not depending on the mod, depending on the member and their previous infractions and rule breaks.

If you have multiple infractions for insulting people then you do it again the infractions points will likely be higher.

When someone posts a comment... lets say.. they say.....

I hate cheese!!!

Now 100 forum members might agree with this comment or even laugh at that comment but another 100 might be totally offended by it simply because they love cheese and how dare the poster use the very harsh word HATE when describing cheese. Both sides are right to have their own opinion on it. Both sides agree to disagree with each other about it etc and more importantly niether side gets punished for it. The problem only arises when the 201st person reads this comment who just so happens to be a moderator. They have the power to take action for or against this comment depending on their own personal take on it. Unfortunately if that moderator is a cheese lover they will agree that this comment is in fact offensive to cheese and there is every chance that the original poster is getting an infraction for using the word HATE against cheese.
And all because they hate cheese and you don't. :joker:
