I don't get why you'd vote in (what is basically) a popularity contest on a site that you're distancing yourself from though

I feel your pain Ben, it was getting a bit exhausting to deal with all this extra **** that had nothing to do with the list or the spirit of it and everything to do with forum politics and I'd had enough of it because it never had anything to do with the vast majority of people who were interested in this but affected everyone. Take part, people!

Because I have people that I love still in the running.

...could you start the thread again and have this one deleted, this is silly and all of these opt outs won't be allowed..

To be fair though, if it's something where you have the option to opt out if you don't want to be in it, then you can't really have a go at people who have decided to take that option. And I don't think my reasons had anything to do with 'forum politics'. I really don't know what the issue is.

Same i have never been in it, it should be no different to any other forum game where members choose themselves whether they want to take part, it's a small percentage of members who have opted out at any rate.

The whole idea of opting out came about because Claymores was being a contrarian dickhead and spat his dummy out. It was only after that that people started opting out... of what? Hearing the nice things people have to say about them? I did this twice a year for four years, I don't think I ever once had a malicious comment PMed to me and if I ever did I certainly didn't include it - no, the reason people opt out is because they view it as a popularity contest (rightly and wrongly, I think) and they've weighed up their ego against the potential for their ego to be hurt and decided they'd rather not put themselves out there and package it under the nice beige reason of "I'm opting out" no questions asked. It's stupid and it's that more than anything else that will kill this off. I really enjoyed running this. It was nice to see people be nice, really, it was nice to read about why everyone liked the people they had chosen to write about and it was nice to compile these montages and have at least two occasions a year where everyone would chill out and not be at each other's throats, particularly a few years ago when people were absolutely horrible to each other all the time.

I hope you choose to carry on with it Ben and I hope that people will reconsider this opting out nonsense, it's a bit of fun at the end of the day!!!

Well now you are not being very nice about the opt outs :inamood: and you are second guessing opt out reasons

Well said Z

Glenn. 18-11-2015 04:47 PM

Why are people crying over the opt outs? There's more than enough members for this to go ahead.

It's really unfair to judge and assume what other peoples reasons for opting out are (never mind calling them stupid lol). Like I said earlier, I'm not trying to spoil it for anyone, I don't think anyone is.

Cherie 18-11-2015 04:48 PM

This is getting stupid now, if the thread is deleted I'm still out end of

Z 18-11-2015 04:51 PM

I hosted eight of these, this is not new and will continue to happen. I'm merely expressing my own thoughts on the matter which I politely refrained from doing while I hosted it for the sake of being impartial. It's just spoilsport-ism.

Dominic 18-11-2015 04:51 PM

Can this not turn into a serious debate like thread pls?

I wasn't getting personal (or meaning to be!) - but if not for the reason I stated above, why else would anyone opt out? Tell me that. What good reason is there that doesn't boil down to exactly that?

Drew. 18-11-2015 04:54 PM

I don't think any of the opt out list are opting out because of so called competition or fear of not doing well lol.

Shaun 18-11-2015 04:57 PM

I am!!! I'm retiring before I fall from the top ten. I am the anti-Madonna.

It doesn't interest me  it's hard to explain, but for the people who get a buzz out it, its great.
