I actually think you're spot on here regarding the smoke screen and what is behind it. However, sometimes people need a bit of time out from those who are so loud, hyperactive and overbearing, and I honestly think they needed it then and that was why they needed to walk away. This must be even more intensified in such a confined space.
If all of them were doing this all of the time then this would be like isolating the weird kid in the playground. However, this is just one occasion at the moment. Marco has his needs which he wants met, but others have their needs too, and sometimes that need is just for chill out quiet time, away from the chaos of people like Marco.
