Arista, you keep trying to give us the impression that you are someone important and that government officials, particularly in the U.S. are listening to you're ideas.

When you are ready to come back down to earth and get back to being your normal fun self, we will stop ridiculing everything you say... I promise.

I don't think arista actually exists, I think a tiny pocket of Internet code mutated into some sort of rudimentary AI that is now just stuck here posting increasingly bizarre things.

I've asked around the oldest serving members.

NO ONE KNOWS WHERE HE CAME FROM or what his deal is. No one. People who have been here from the very start! It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

A very dignified response to a post going off-track and concentrating on a poster rather than post content. Well said.

Remove the splinter from your own eye.

My eye is splinter-free thanks. Not so sure about yours though.

So bringing this back to the actual topic, would it be fair to have a two tiered pension system one where anyone who works in a physically demanding job, or a job that puts the public at risk for instance long distance lorry drivers should have an earlier retirement age than someone who has a desk bound job? i think this would work, it might cause resentment but even the current retirement age of 67 is not suited to many workers who work in a physically demanding environment.

Lorry drivers are assessed regularly, they can't just trundle along until they retire. But I agree with what you say what jobs are suitable for doddery old dears?
As stated we are living longer but due to age related change and chronic illness they are not healthy years, so are we going to see jobcenters crowded with OAPs trawling their oxygen tanks behind them to sign on?

Airline pilots presently retire at 55. Its the same for the police and fire service, though paramedics now have to work much longer. Special forces retire at 40.

The thing is, a state pension is worth nothing and most people have private pensions. It just means a lot more people will take out private pension funds or invest enough to ensure they can retire at a reasonable age.

Ah right, it's to get people to gamble on putting their money in something that there is a risk it will be lost?...Yep sounds like a tory scheme.

People will be going back to keeping it under the mattress soon

Sad to say but we live in a dog eat dog system now. Look how Arista calls his workforce 'plebs'

Our children will raise their children in a country with only a private health care system, no state pension, state schools that only teach the basics and a community who spit on homeless people in the street.

Elderly people are already being encouraged to take loans out on their properties because they can't afford to keep warm or they go into a nursing home that on average costs them £1,000 a week. This sort of thing ensures their children lose any hope of an inheritance.

Getting old in this country is a frightening prospect because the government has been screwing with the state pension for years. By the time we are old, there will be no state pension.

arista 05-02-2017 03:40 PM
