If you use the word, "Gay" and wish to pluralise the word, then you would say, "Gay people" or homosexual which is the other common term.

But it is not so serious to add an "s" to the word, "Gay", unless you are the type of person who is looking for trouble, when trouble is not even there?

Correct nodis. "The gays" is unacceptable. Gay people is correct tho.
