I’d do it for a double cheeseburger and a large strawberry milkshake

The casting couch has been a joke since there's been a film industry and there have always been plenty of ambitious actresses who, over the years, have been willing to bend over for a great part. Sadly, that plays into the hands of males like Weinstein.

Yes but I guess it's like blackmail, you don't do it and your name is blackened around Hollywood or the next girl will do etc, that's not right

Yes, I know that there's a lot of that too. I'm not saying it's all the fault of women, of course not... but I do believe women who've gone down that route and gone on to brilliant careers, acting, directing... have done other women a disservice. And it's not just in the film industry, that's how some women roll. Thankfully, it's a very small percentage... but they're really the enemy of other women as much as people - I can't bring myself to call him a man - like Weinstein.

And something that really pisses me off.... He's either Winestine or he's Weensteen, you can't bloody have it both ways.

I think all this stuff coming out can only be a good thing though, eventhough some people are complaining about it, maybe it will make it better for women in Hollywood in the future

But which is accurate :suspect:. I'd have said the former out loud...

Oh yes... and for some men too. Except that it's all scoop and scandal. People are being named by unverified, someones unnamed sources and suddenly their career is over. No one's been tried, no one's been found guilty... Men who do stuff like Weinstein did, and I bet there are lots of them, need to be brought to account but it all needs to be done is a far more level-headed,less headline-grabbing way. That's a big ask in Hollywood though...

It seems to be a big ask in any and all situations, and everywhere, to be honest. If it's human interest then there's money to be made and plenty of people are happy to take it.

Some people say "Winesteen" which is surely the most baffling. Like it's the same string of letters, how can it be suddenly different? Most languages don't have the same bizarre inconsistencies that English has.

I agree with you but the question is would it all have been brushed under the carpet easier then? But social media and I suppose the internet in general is like the wild west anyway, it's going to be hard to get a handle on it

I just think about the bloke who topped himself in Wales, the politician... Carl Sargeant. He was named and shamed before he even had a change to answer the allegations. It's a tough one.

Was he, had you all heard about that before he killed himself? I'm not a big follower of British politics tbh so the first i heard about it was that article that was posted here yesterday

The Welsh First Minister handled it so badly he's about to resign. The dead man's family have made a very angry statement to the press. It's all very sad...

i remember a few years ago when the Sun published a picture of a supposed child molester and it turned out to be the wrong picture. There has to be some responsibility taken for effectively mobilising a lynch mob on what are innocent people until found guilty in a court of law.

It's a very sad state of affairs and I agree entirely.
