Does anyone think this late start may be a big f u to Endemol by Frow and Ch 5? If 5 already plans on cancellation and Endemol is either in talks with or has a preliminary deal with another channel or streamer, wouldnt a September start and December finish on 5 make it nearly impossible for them to do CBB next January elsewhere as Im sure they would ideally like to?

There’s no reason Channel 5 would want to stop another channel getting it though is there? I mean rumours say they made CBB21 so high class so that the brand was more appealing to other broadcasters. Plus January CBB was skipped when it moved from 4 to 5 too

They hardly have the will these days to make a series longer than 50 days - do you really think they're going to double it? for a program that keeps loosing viewers everyday and easily falling under 1m?
I doubt it.

The good news is that we will finally get a late non-summery BB, like BB12.

Nicky and BB-UKFAN?

Maru 18-05-2018 10:24 PM

This cast better be good. Or a lot of folk are going to feel let down after all this "hype"... if it even happens!!! I still feel like they could pull the plug at the last minute...

Yes, BB. Avoid clashing with Love Island, but clash with the much bigger X Factor, Strictly and I'm a Celeb. Good plan.

TXF is flopping at a faster rate than BB tbh...

The X Factor is hitting 15 years and just about hitting the "reasonable" figures for a show that topped them for a long time.

Big Brother is hitting 20 years and has been dead for half of that time.

So... not really.

Personally I don't see Strictly or X Factor as competition for BB... For one they air twice a week and secondly they focus on a completely different area of entertainment... I'm a Celebrity to a less extent is competition but is less story driven and focuses more on the trials than it does on the actual celebs...

That said honestly launching in September is a horrible idea but I believe a later launch is necessary... If it were up to me I'd launch in July... It doesn't quite avoid Love Island completely but it does come in at a time where the series is winding down but still gives the series a chance to stand on it's own...

I agree... We've had a bastardized version of BB for much longer... X Factor may not return to it's former glory but I still think there's potential for them to recover some lost ground... BB on the other hand will take years of continuous improvements to fix... If they can do it at all...

Nicky91 19-05-2018 07:54 AM

Strictly is competition cause it attracts 10 million or more viewers each year ;)

To the X Factor is is, but it's a different show to BB and wouldn't detract viewers because it's on at a different time of night.

By faster rate as in viewers getting lost at a faster rate...

Ofc it is. Civilian BB has lost 0.3 million viewers in 6(?) years. X Factor has lost over 6 million in the same time frame.

X Factor had more to lose though?

I thought they meant X Factor has lost viewers at a faster rate when they haven't. They retained their peak a lot longer than BB did.

Here for this idea if it's true. Watching this and BBUS in the summer can be really time consuming (can't remember when was the last time I actually finished a BBUS season though :/)

XF is still on its original major channel whilst BB got demoted. And XF only has to pull in viewers for one series a year whilst BB has foolishly diluted the product over 3 series per year.

Educate them Dodge. :clap1:

BigBrotherGuy100 19-05-2018 01:32 PM

IMO they should stop producing the celebrity series altogether, none in January and None in Summer. Have a year where they focus all their attention and budget on the civilian series
