I just read that both the XBXSRSX and PS5 are rockin' somewhere around the equivalent of an RTX 2080 Super... but the already released (though impossible to buy anywhere :bawling: ) RTX 30- series outperforms the 20- series by a massive margin... an even bigger jump in performance than the GTX 9- series to the 10- series (which was huge).

So the consoles are lagging significantly behind high-end PC graphics before they've even released which I think might be a first :umm2:.

I wonder how it'll affect the generation. Like I said, the jump in performance is unusually big and if the consoles were coming just a year later, they would have been significantly more powerful.

Just wish I could get my hands on a 3080 before Cyberpunk but it's looking extremely unlikely, the reseller prices on eBay are just daft and everywhere is sold out.

That's just the excuse people use when they're too poor to maintain a good one so they have to buy a povvy subsidised mid-range PC with console branding on it to game at all :hee:.

Sony does keep luring me in with their damn exclusives though :fist:.

The UI. I think it looks visually impressive.

Love the hints bit. Too many times have I needed a walk through and youtube search suggestions spoils it for me.

i saw a review on the latest x box yesterday and it was less than complimentary, so the field is open for the PS5 if they haven't messed it up too

In what sense? The hardware is more or less identical parts in a different box. The UI etc. will be completely different of course.

So Game is considered essential, right?

bots 01-11-2020 12:11 PM

i've set Amazon to notify me when they have stock in, i consider it essential

I do agree though! I would say entertainment stuff is essential as we gotta look after our mental health and have to entertain ourselves during lockdown and many more if that happens.

Just got a call from Game. Have to go and pay before wednesday, then just show a receipt on release day.

Whilst bots is waiting for Amazon to let him know that ink for his typewriter is in stock.

In all seriousness, what's the point of getting a PS5 at launch when there's **** all coming out for it for ages

Tom4784 02-11-2020 09:25 PM

Spiderman is the only really tempting game at launch, but I can wait until February-April when RE8 is likely to come out.

I did have Cyberpunk pre-ordered until the latest delay for the PS4 but since there's a lot of reports of the current gen versions being problematic, I think I'll likely get Spiderman, Cyberpunk and RE8 as my first PS5 games.

Well I play a lot of online NBA 2k which is my primary reason for upgrading on day 1, but I'll buy Spiderman and Valhalla too.

Why does anyone buy anything they don't need as an essential?

Don't get me wrong, I'm mostly a PC gamer so I'm not shy about frivolous spends, I spent just under £800 on two monitors in July (a 32" 4k and a 28" 1440p 165hz) :joker:. I also will definitely be getting a PS5 long before any price drops etc... It's more having to put in extra effort to secure one I don't really understand, but then, I'm quite lazy. If I can't just go on a website and order current stock, then I can't really be arsed :umm2:.

That said, I'd have got one for Cyberpunk if I only had consoles, I suspect the PS4 version is going to be stripped back and will STILL have framerate issues.

Game is about 15 minutes away from me and isn't in the city centre so it's completely hassle free. I parked outside and was in and out within 20 mins when I reserved. It's only lockdown thats forced the extra hassle. They're attaching raffle tickets to receipts, and pre-packaging everything the night before, so it'll actually be a lot quicker to pick up on release day, without the need for queuing and paying. £581 for the disc version, Morales, and valhalla ultimate edition.

I'm exhausted just reading that! I will buy one when someone can bring it to my door and say "Here is your PS5 you lucky duck" ... and even then I'm feeling lethargic about the idea of having to answer the door.

I'm getting mine at launch from Shopto, they had a 'register your interest' thing up before announcement, and the early you registered, the more likely you was to get on at launch
