Government controlling the media... still denying a lurch toward autocracy?

bots 29-04-2022 07:51 AM

i am absolutely 100% against people (particularly the elderly) being processed as criminals for watching a TV. It's so disproportionate and unfair

In the next 3 Years BBC4 TV & CBBC TV will move online
Also BBC4extra radio on DAB to move online

Radio 4 long-way band will be deleted

BBC South Today Oxford bulletin to be axed in November

So they will merge it with Southampton BBC Local News

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-61593568

The regional news programme
in Cambridge is also being axed
as part of the cuts, it was announced.

arista 27-05-2022 12:52 PM

[Paul Siegert, the NUJ's national broadcasting organiser,
called the announcement
a "direct consequence of the government's
decision to refuse to fund the BBC adequately".

He added: "The two year freeze on the
licence fee has left the BBC with some
tough decisions to make.

"It's the second restructuring
for BBC England in the past two years,
and a clear sign that the first process
was ill-thought through and
poorly implemented."]

Why not move BBC3 online?

I mean, which audience is more likely to want to watch something on their main TV - someone who'd watch the kinds of documentaries and retrospectives BBC4 puts out ... Or someone who watches the crap on BBC3?

bots 27-05-2022 01:00 PM

the way its going, all their content will be on iplayer and their news channel on the normal channels. That sets it up nicely for a subscription model in the future

Of Course they spent big money
Promoting BBC3 on its return to TV.

So BBC3 was only online for a few years,

It is shame BBC4 TV is going online
but it will be a few years, yet
they still have to give a date

BBC Text : The salaries of the BBC's top earners,
which have been disclosed in the
corporation's annual report.
The paper says Match Of The Day
presenter Gary Lineker earns £1.35m for
"doing a job our readers could do standing on their heads".

Lineker is such a nob tbh. Imagine being locked in a room with him and Schofield?!!

Anyway, whatever the BBC pays it wont be affecting me.

It’s always ‘bothered’ me that GL presents as such a nice , squeaky clean individual whilst his brother is reportedly the exact opposite

I mean GL worked for BT as well.

bots 14-07-2022 03:00 PM

it's ultimately the persons popularity that dictates the salary they are paid. Someone in high demand will always command the big bucks

Swan 15-07-2022 01:35 PM

People should honestly just stop paying this scam.

Tbf we shouldn't judge Gary Lineker off his Brother's actions, good or bad.

An 86 year old lady
phoned Ch5HD Extra Live

They phone you back.

She can no longer afford the BBC TV Tax
or her heating in the winter.

So she will have a Radio only on
this winter.
