Government controlling the media... still denying a lurch toward autocracy?

i am absolutely 100% against people (particularly the elderly) being processed as criminals for watching a TV. It's so disproportionate and unfair

BBC South Today Oxford bulletin to be axed in November
So they will merge it with Southampton BBC Local News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-61593568 The regional news programme in Cambridge is also being axed as part of the cuts, it was announced. |
[Paul Siegert, the NUJ's national broadcasting organiser,
called the announcement a "direct consequence of the government's decision to refuse to fund the BBC adequately". He added: "The two year freeze on the licence fee has left the BBC with some tough decisions to make. "It's the second restructuring for BBC England in the past two years, and a clear sign that the first process was ill-thought through and poorly implemented."] |

I mean, which audience is more likely to want to watch something on their main TV - someone who'd watch the kinds of documentaries and retrospectives BBC4 puts out ... Or someone who watches the crap on BBC3? |
the way its going, all their content will be on iplayer and their news channel on the normal channels. That sets it up nicely for a subscription model in the future

Of Course they spent big money Promoting BBC3 on its return to TV. So BBC3 was only online for a few years, It is shame BBC4 TV is going online but it will be a few years, yet they still have to give a date |
