Having watched The Crown, albeit fictional, it did give a good insight into their lives. Watching his life unfold today I think The Crown gave a pretty accurate account of his life and personality.

the bbc is the public broadcaster so they are expected to devote time to the event. Other channels are doing it for advertising revenue, and nothing earns bucks more than an event like this

yes, there is some artistic freedom in the Crown, but the facts are written in stone in history and they stick very close to them on the majority of cases

On a side note, it's a bit of a relief the Philip hung on for a couple of weeks after the M&H interview, if he had died a couple of weeks ago people would be baying for blood

Donald and Melania's message of condolence was nice.

I never watched that rusti, but from what I have seen this afternoon he really didnt seem as bad as some of the media made him out to be.

It's always was clear he had a good heart but he let his mouth get away with him and said things he shouldn't have done

Has the media ever made him out to be "bad"? All I've ever seen said is that he had a bit of a controversial sense of humour and liked his "edgy" jokes.

Hmmm....I dont know. I think people will feel angry that they had to deal with all that crap in the last few weeks of his life.

As per Kaz news media were always so quick to point out flaws but he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he did many great things for the UK.

Oh yes it's the worst thing poor Philip had ever been through - a minor family tiff. Shocking stuff.

Well it was said that Prince Philip was behind Diana's death and that he didn't like her, from what we have seen today its, not so and its the opposite, seems he supported her a lot.

I think it took him a few years to adapt... I think Anne has many of his characteristics with her wit and sarcasm and I get the impression she was his favorite. She was made of sterner stuff...he wasnt one for weakness.
You really should watch The Crown...we only watched it this year and we really enjoyed it. As its been reported...he was a mans man and I think it was hard for him to play second fiddle to the Queen...he must have loved her and he made the role his own and as always we only really all learn all of what he did when he dies.

I didnt say it was the worse thing....and if you see it as 'a minor family tiff' then you really havent got a grip on family loyalty and how damaging hurtful accusations have on family relations.

It’s sad for the family but why am I subjected to listen to it on radio/TV? I couldn’t care less tbh,

AnnieK 09-04-2021 05:15 PM

To be fair, I would imagine most of the Harry and Meghan drama will have been kept from him. His health was obviously worse than was reported and I'm sure they will have shielded him from a lot of things.
