Good riddance. One of the worst PMs this country has ever seen. Did untold damage to the country.

She wasn't responsible for doing the damage, that was entirely Boris and his buddies. Also, she didn't call the referendum, that was Cameron who was off quicker than lightening

She was a mess as a PM, however I agree she was left a mess by David Cameron and that referedum.

I do have to say she was far better as PM however than the last 3 incumbents put together.

Plus she had Johnson both as a Minister in her government and then on the backbenches backstabbing her at every single opportunity.he could seize to.

Fortunately he got his political comeuppance eventually.

Tim Loughton MP
Giving up.

[A Conservative MP has announced he
will not stand at the next general election
after more than 27 years in Parliament.

Tim Loughton has represented the
East Worthing & Shoreham constituency
since 1997 and has won seven
general elections.

The veteran backbencher, who served as
deputy chairman on the
Home Affairs Select Committee,
posted on X (formerly Twitter)
on Saturday, announcing the news,
saying: "it was “wiser to leave five
minutes too soon than to continue
for five years too long".

He is the latest Tory MP to announce
that they will not be seeking re-election
in the next election.

Some 64 Conservative MPs have now
said they will either stand down from the
Commons or not seek re-election
in their
current constituencies.]

He probably REALLY means
He's standing down because he's more than likely going to be booted out by the voters anyhow in the election.
Whenever Fishy Sunak DARES to call one

What a pity all these MPs who are going to be gone as MPs in a few months.,don't now just think, to blazes with it, we are going to sit independently now.
Vote according to our conscience and what we feel is right not being bludgeoned into voting for things we don't believe in by the Party whips.

That would make for a better parliament.

Although having said that, then Sunak would more likely call an election and get them gone that few months earlier.

Chris Heaton-Harris not standing for re-election

He is in the Cabinet.

[Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris
has said he will not be standing at
the next general election.

The Tory MP said on X, formerly Twitter,
it had been an "honour and a privilege to serve"
and passed on his thanks to his
constituents in Daventry.

Mr Heaton-Harris has been the
Northern Ireland secretary since
September 2022, describing it as
the "best job in the Cabinet".

He announced his intention in a letter
to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.]

Another Standing down on July 4th

[Huw Merriman MP has announced he will
be standing down from Parliament at the
next general election.

The Conservative MP for Bexhill and Battle
in East Sussex said he will not stand as
a candidate and will leave his role on 4 July.

Mr Merriman has served as
Minister of State for Rail and HS2 since October 2022
and previously chaired the
Transport Select Committee.

“I have loved being an MP and I leave
with a heavy heart,” he said.]

All these standing down MPs presents a problem as to being the incumbent MPs.
Which can even in a small way help with votes in the particular constituency.

bots 23-05-2024 08:52 PM

all parties will struggle to get candidates in place for the election. That's one of the reasons Sunak decided to go for it now
