If the BBC (Tory) fat cats are angry about Gary’s comments away from his job for being ‘bias’ I can only assume they’re seething about the blatant bias on bbc programmes from the likes of Fiona Bruce and Laura K

Livia 09-03-2023 12:12 PM

Tory fat-cats at the BBC? LOL..... right.

If "both sides" are accusing the BBC of bias, they must be doing something right

What a pathetic government and a complete trampling of freedom of speech. This is a country of bootlickers that kowtow to power at every given opportunity.

Liam- 09-03-2023 12:31 PM

The whinging right wingers in this world adore the concept of free speech when it involves protecting them and their views and their right to express those views freely and openly, yet they routinely rally against free speech for those that they disagree with and those that criticise them and their ideals, everybody knows this, if Linekar had come out and said he agreed with Rishi and Braverman, this debate wouldn’t be happening and the Tory run bbc wouldn’t be under pressure to fire him for his opinion from the same people that have been pushing this whole idea of cancel culture and the right wing being punished for having different views, it’s a grift from top to bottom and it’s not to be taken seriously

This is a video of a holocaust survivor confronting Suella Braverman on the use of her language and how it was similar to that of the Nazis. Does she not know anything about what she's talking about either? How are you going to make out that she's talking ****, I wonder?

The tories are constantly using language in much the same way that the nazis did, deny it all you want, use the deaths of millions of people as a shield to protect your precious tories, but in the end, the rhetoric is scarily similar and we should be highlighting and condemning such rhetoric since we've all seen where it leads in the end. To defend it by making out that the comparison is somehow an attack on jewish people is quite reprehensible.

Nobody is saying lineker can't speak, they are saying he cant make political comments while being a freelancer at the bbc. It's a big difference.

Except you basically want him to lose his job because he said something you didn't like and it disrupted the right wing echo chamber that the BBC has become.

You want him to face consequences for an opinion that falls entirely under freedom of speech because you don't like what he said. You continue to oppose freedom of speech while pretending you aren't.

Right Wingers are spoiled brats that have never known actual struggle so they invent things and slights to be mad about. Pathetic people.

Wasn't it in his own time? Being a freelancer shouldn't mean he should even keep his tweets BBC-friendly.

it's up to the bbc, if they think he is having a bad influence on the bbc brand which is supposed to mean impartiality, they can get rid of him.

Impartiality doesn't exist in the BBC. You continue to confuse right wing bias for impartiality.

GoldHeart 09-03-2023 02:13 PM

BBC is biased, but at the end of the day Linekar isn't poor . He'll probably get booked by ITV or another channel.

I agree with this. Especially Fiona Bruce. She makes QT unwatchable.

Lineker said it on Twitter and he is entitled to his opinion. If he'd said this on MOTD then that is another matter.

Didn't Gary Neville have a pop at the government while on air? That's not acceptable. He's not there for his political views. The thing that people are getting their knickers in a twist is the Nazi comparison.

Alf 09-03-2023 02:41 PM

I agree, Let Lineker have his say. And if he has his opinion on Twitter then that should be OK.

But if Katie Hopkins has her opinion on Twitter then she should be silenced and banned, have her house taken away, fined, threatened and the authorities should think about taking her kids from her. We should have different rules for different people.

Crimson Dynamo 09-03-2023 02:48 PM

One would hope that if say Alan Shearer had tweeted "Great to see the UK Government get tough with illegals. Its time to stop the boats and clear out the hotels and start deporting illegals"

The same people would be supportive of his rights?

that would happen right?

He would have already been fired. He would have also probably been forced to publicly apologise. The tabloids would have printed lots of front page dirt on him for a week or two.

He'd then have to go to GB news to find employment.

And rightly so, he shouldn't be allowed to have the same privilege as Lineker if he thinks diffentley. We can only have one way of thinking if we're gonna reach the dream.
