Agree.

He's not what I think of a modern midfielder. Im thinking, 100 touches, 60 - 70 passes a game. That's a day at the office for the someone like Toni Kroos.

Trent isn't that player but he's incredible at what he does well. I think we're even more confused at to what is his best position.

He would have been better suited to today’s game than Kane imho

Bellingham has shown what a special player really is

I agree, Foden is not in Bellingham's league imo.

Maybe right wingback ?

I would persevere with him in midfield for now though

I was getting sick or hearing people call Foden a generational talent

I think me might form a good partnership with Saka

It would've been a gamble bringing Toney on imo.

Why though given Kane was practically invisible and had about 5 touches of the ball

Because Kane has proven that he can score at this level.

Plus Kane knows how to dive in a way that convinces the Referees.

As much as it kills me to say this.

But hasn't Watkins been on better form than Toney?

He might get away with it against poor opposition, but he'd get found out against a good side.

In the middle, you have to be strong, you have to be able to put your foot in and win tackles. You have to be able to go box to box.

When he's not pulling his weight then he makes the likes of Rice and Bellingham have to do his work for him, which makes them less affective than they could be.

They got away with it in the first half because Serbia were poor. But soon as Serbia started to play, he went missing.

GiRTh 16-06-2024 09:47 PM

In an old school 442 Trent would be great. Some defensive duties but not too much. Get him on the ball, put legs around him and he's great but not a midfielder

GiRTh 16-06-2024 09:51 PM

I mean playing wide right in an old school 442. Trent wold never survive being in the middle

England as a team went missing

He was still passing well

I'd like to see Saka coming of the bench against tired defendres. He's the only player that seems to take on his man. He does quite well at it against fresh defenders. He'd probably run tired defenders ragged. I think that would also allow Foden to start in a number 10 style role.

We could have Walker and Trent down the right. Rice and Bellingham to control the middle, with Foden playing a floating number 10 role

The only problem is that we don't seem to have a couple of good players that can play down the left.

Zizu 16-06-2024 11:02 PM

Nailed Foden’s performance perfectly

i didn't know Marc Guéhi is the english Andre Ramalho :hehe:

LOL that error of his, where Mitrovic had a good shot at goal afterwards

no defensive wise, england have serious problems, and i cannot see them becoming european champions

also where was Kane? in sleep mode or something :hehe:

All players make the occasional mistake

TAA had that little scare then played really well .

We had no vision or creativity when he left the game .. just Gallagher running around like a bad tempered, headless chicken

Interesting to see Cesc commenting on Foden going missing ( again) .. he said great players like Iniesta and Xavi always found a way to effect or influence the important games even if they weren’t on tiptop form

Slovenia - Serbia gonna be a exciting match i think

Woke Denmark vs Snoozefest England though doesn't do anything for me

Nicky91 20-06-2024 07:44 AM

with that pathetic ''heart patient'' Eriksen :yuk:

Zizu 20-06-2024 07:51 AM

Stuart Pearce has suggested that England do what Pep did with Foden … not just play him every game and expect wonders from him

With City he has 3 or 4 options every time he has the ball …
