oh dear Doctor

J.K. Rowling
@jk_rowling

This man is talking about rape survivors who want female-only care, the nurses
currently suing their health trust for making them change in front of a man,
girls and women losing sporting opportunities to males and female prisoners
incarcerated with convicted sex offenders.

Oh wow, was that comment from David Tennant in response to the backlash of his comments about Kemi Badenoch?

Mystic Mock 28-06-2024 09:46 AM

That's not the best way for David Tennant to handle this situation, if that's what he said.

hhmmmm well, a lot of what he's saying I totally agree with and I think the majority of people who argue about this from a woman's rights perspective would also agree with. What I don't like is his dismissive-ness when it comes to any questioning of this ideology at all or it's impacts on women and children in some areas. Saying that people (especially women) who raise any concerns are doing so because they're selfish is an astoundingly privileged attitude to have coming from a wealthy white man, just poo pooing these annoying whingy women. Awful attitude and quite regressive ironically

But his whole premis is a strawman - "I just wish people would be nice and let people live" - so does everyone mate

What people also want is children not to be sterilised and have bits cut off them and for women to have safe spaces away from men but he doesn't but of course just pretends that the "bad people" are just wanting to not let people live.

Of course he is in denial and the Cass report has exposed him and his wife

Well this is the thing, he has had evidence through the Cass report showing that actually people who were saying this stuff about medicalising children and fast tracking them/not looking at other possible reasons why they think they're trans - is not actually just made up stuff because we all hate trans people and don't really care about children (I mean which is more likely for the vast majority of people??) Why wouldn't we (especially people who are parents) care about the welfare of children??

He is correct though that most people in a general sense couldn't care less what others do with their lives or how they dress etc, they only start caring when it starts impacting other people which this does, it very clearly does, just look at Sport for, I guess the most visual and glaring examples

Basically he's being very disingenuous here because I don't think he's stupid

My thoughts exactly and it actually irks me more when people demonstrate that they are in fact capable of having an intelligent, nuanced discussion about the issues and yet still resort to spewing idioms and soundbites in public discourse. He's more than capabe of understanding that this is a complex issue. If you caught him in a private one-on-one he'd probably willingly discuss the issues. But in public? "There is no issue everyone is just mean".

It's 100% Stonewall - literally - it's baked into the ideology. "Give them nothing, openly concede nothing" - because the idea is, if you do openly concede that it's a complex and nuanced issue (every sociological issue is!) then other disingenuous people on the other side will use it as an "ah-ha!" moment to exploit.

I mean, to an extent, I even get it. I understand where that came from.

The problem is that in the modern oh-so-interconnected era... you have lots of people constantly listening. And lots of them not capable or not old enough yet for proper critical thought about these issues. So if all they here is the drum-thumping of total denial that there's an issue then they're going to parrot that with no understanding at all of the topic at hand.

Exactly. And this is where the ideology starts behaving more like a religious belief system imo. Follow all the dogma with blind faith or you're not such a good ally after all and you might be cast out!

This is how its being framed by the trans activists..

David Tennant wears non-binary pin and nail polish to Mean Girls premiere
amid trans rights row , following a public beef with government
ministersincluding Kemi Badenoch, over trans rights.

No row, not about "trans rights" - just a nasty man being a misogynist because he has actually found himself on the wrong side of history

A caller named Jane got through to Sir Keir Starmer on BBC radio and
desperately tried to get him to answer how he’ll protect women whilst allowing
men to self-ID as women and access single sex spaces, she could teach the
media a thing or two about holding politicians to account!

Very worrying times ahead for girls and women with this snake in charge

Are you saying you think the UK could adopt the gun loving Craze?? . I don't think it would ever get as bad as America, however lack of criminal checks on people will probably get worse here.

The UK along with Canada, Japan, and Australia all love to follow American culture a little too closely for my liking.

I like America as a nation, but there are certain things that this country takes from them that I really don't like.

So it wouldn't surprise me if we started taking on a gun loving culture.

I probably see what you're saying, but tell me more ?.

I agree that things happening in America can still affect us across the pond.

Well I feel like we take on their entertainment industry at the expense of our own.

I feel that our local businesses aren't able to thrive over the American chains in our own country.

Plastic surgery on the rise in the UK.

And a lot of the Political scene in the UK is based off of what's happening in America.

There's probably more stuff that I'm not thinking of right now, but to me we are very much indoctrinated into American culture in this country.

Some of it tbf is good, but some of it is also unfortunate imo.

Does he not see the irony of a man telling women how they should feel? he is supposed to be this supporter of people being able to live their lives freely, tell that to a rape survivor having to share facilities with a man who has taken advantage of self ID because he is a predator, or just a plain mysognist who feels women are beneath him so he will do it anyway

Labour’s Dawn Butler has proudly declared that she agreed with David Tennant.

A woman praising a man for telling a woman to shut up after she spoke up for
women who are rightly worried about men invading women and girls safe spaces and who have read and understood the Cass report..

This is Labour 2024

Kemi Badenoch tells David Tennant 'I was RIGHT' after woman definition ruling - and
demands apologies to JK Rowling

She told GB News: "I spent my entire time as equalities minister really fighting on this
issue. I even got abuse from David Tennant.

Asked by GB News' political editor Christopher Hope what her message was for Tennant,
she replied: "I was right. And actually what is now really clear is that the law explains
something that all children know, men are men and women are women."
