I feel like the later seasons still hold up as almost a modern sitcom whereas the earlier ones feel so steeped in the 90s with the fashion, the humour and the lifestyles

Couldn't stand Susan.
I enjoyed every character but her

Eddie needed his own show

…a recent excellent comedy series I’ve watched the first season of…(…because it’s only one season in…)…is Nobody Wants This, I would totally recommend that one…I just couldn’t put it down until I’d watched the season to the end…

I agree some of the jokes from friends wouldn't pass today like:

Joey "if homosapians were in fact homo-sapians...is that why they're exctinct?"
Ross stares in disbelief "Joey homosapians are people!"
Joey "hey I don't judge" hahaha this definitely wouldn't fly today. What gets me is the way Matt Leblanc himself couldn't help but snicker a little when he delivered that line :joker:

Definitely the friendship is a strength. Like if one of them left not sure it would have worked as well. They all fit perfectly as a unit.

Ah sex and the city...that episode when they were all at Miranda's mum's? Funeral, is when I really realised that one reason I loved this show was because of the love they each had for each other...not because Samantha was moaning every week about gherkins :nono:

Trying to think if I've watched any funny new sitcoms lately ...
I haven't but the last sitcom that I thought was perfect is Melissa and Joey

Did anyone watch the Joey spin-off show? I think I only watched the first episode.

Some of the bloopers are even funnier than the show

I did but I think it didn't grip me much because as I mentioned above they worked as a unit. Individually Joey was not giving

…I’ve started to watch Schitt’s Creek again, I’m only on episode 6 of the first season so not really invested in the characters yet but it does tick along very well and short episodes…let me know if you watch, also…

No disrespect to the 90s! Was a great time as I understand it. Just feels like the difference between the early 90s Friends and the early 00s Friends was much more different than the 00s Friends feels to today.. if that makes sense

…yeah, I know what you mean about having a long watch list…I’m going to get TV focused in January/February and try to shorten that list as much as I can…

Yeah alot was missing from Joey , I always preferred all 6 of them as a unit aswell.

I think the only spin off concept ...which may have worked, would have been Monica & Chandler living in the countryside ,and us seeing them raise their kids. But I still think it would have needed cameos from the other friends cast members to really make it work.

But that idea definitely would have potential. Obviously sadly that's impossible now anyway as Matthew Perry is no longer with us R.I.P. . But if I'm honest I was always more excited about Monica & Chandler's life and the whole ' next chapter ' ,more so than Rachel & Ross or Phoebe & Mike or Joey for that matter.

It was OK, but that's about it. Nothing I could return to.

Very overatted sitcom. For the easilly pleased.

Father Ted, came out around the same time. Father Ted is far superior to Friends.
