Agreed, the damage to the US as a country is insane - isolationism, as a concept, has historically led countries into literal dark ages. And that was BEFORE global politics became instantaneous.

America's economy and military is so strong that the short term effect on other nations is massive, but if those other nations are still working cooperatively while the US "opts out", it will not take long at all for the US to be replaced as the world's #1 - both economically and, in turn, military. They can easily be leapfrogged in both by a united Europe and BRICS. They could legitimately hit the #3 spot, their current actions are absolute madness for the world AND for the US on its own.

Vladimir Putin looked and sounded belligerent during his reported visit to the Kursk region yesterday.

For the first time in years, he was dressed in military fatigues, and he ordered his troops to “completely destroy the enemy” in the region.

As everyone is looking for signs of whether he will accept the offer of a ceasefire in Ukraine, this was hardly the look and words of someone keen to send a message of peace to Kyiv.
