It would just provoke more negative karma being given to you and would be an abuse of the system.

When karma was introduce it was stated that anyone found abusing the system... i.e only giving out negative karma would have the rights to use the karma system taken away.

Minus 2 isn't that low I have seen people with much lower karma scores. It only takes a couple of points and you will be to zero.

If you don't like the system you can always turn it off. Then nobody can give you or take away karma. It just doesn't appear.

Why do all the admins have it turn off, they should be promoting it.

All the Admin team have it turned on.

Out of a Moderation team of nine, four of us have have it turned off. We all have our own reasons. My reason that I felt at the time it would be easy to target moderators with negative karma after giving a warning to a popular member.

Dr43%er 09-04-2008 12:39 PM

As I have said before. If you feel the need to give negs then give it to me. I will happily take them.

Mrluvaluva 09-04-2008 02:10 PM

Oops!

Dr43%er 09-04-2008 02:31 PM

LOL.

Sunny_01 09-04-2008 06:01 PM

Oh my god my world is going to end someone has taken a +karma point from me!! can you all remember the reactions of some members when they had points removed for very obviously being out of order?

Max I think you made a good decision to turn it off. If it gets to you so much best to remove the irritation of worrying what people think.

Mrluvaluva 09-04-2008 06:46 PM

Have another point then. Lol.

You two can mock but the system is open to abuse. Thus, it should at least be re-assessed.

I agree it is open to abuse but what system is not, the great thing is it was reviewed and made into an optional add on for those that want it and who know and accept that people will give and people will take away.

That's the only good thing about it.

I do however think there should be some research done sometimes into people with so much negative karma. I sometimes think that certain members just deduct karma willy nilly and just for a laugh sometimes.

Maybe, if you are subjected to say -10 or more that admin can be asked to look into whether that member has been targeted by someone/others

MarkWaldorf 10-04-2008 03:00 PM

I've forgotten about it to be honest.

Excellent idea:thumbs: There are some very good posters with very low Karma. Maybe the admin might want to take a look at why.

~Kizwiz~ 10-04-2008 03:03 PM

It was said when it started that that would be the case, and I do believe that a members karma rights were taken away because they were dishing out negs a little bit too much

If someone is only giving neg karma then something should be done about it.

I can name at least 3 or 4 very good posters who have negative karma. I just think the whole thing is pointless. It's negatives far out way it's positives.

I've just turned mine on to check a few things out. Barring a few notable exceptions and discounting the moderating team, the majority of regular posters has theirs turned off. What does that tell us?

Sunny_01 10-04-2008 03:43 PM

I think that your idea is a great one Kiz, I will send a message to James or Mark asking them to look at your idea.
