I reckon 2.5m tonight, it's a Saturday

Brekkie 09-01-2010 04:52 PM

Well we've been telling C4 ever since the shows moved to 9pm and 10.35pm in BB9 that they should be one 90-minute show - I've no doubt if it had been a 90-minute show it would have maintained the average of the first show throughout, though really last nights "live event" could have been done within the hour-long show anyway.

A couple of positives though - the opening round up of the week and it's pretty clear the eviction panel has been ditched as the new stage can only really host Davina and the evictee.

Working on averages I think it will have been about 3m. I think once people knew Ivana was going in, there was no real attraction to keep watching so probably switched off. I'm expecting that about 3.4m were watching at 10.40pm but that tailed off to about 2m by the end of the show. It was just glorified live feed.

tmx 10-01-2010 10:57 AM

2.9m (11%) inc +1

Vladimir 10-01-2010 11:16 AM

Not bad for a Saturday night. :)

Billy 10-01-2010 11:36 AM

I'm actually really impressed with that. I feared it could go down to 2.0 or even under!

Jords 10-01-2010 11:45 AM

Hmm not bad!

Spike 10-01-2010 12:02 PM

I don't think anyone was expecting such a good rating last night. Best Saturday figure since CBB5 I have read.
The series is doing cosistantly doing well which is pleasing. I think around the 3million mark is where the series will stay..well until C4's dodgy schedule next week.

biglover 10-01-2010 01:03 PM

Predictions for tonights show>> around 2.9 to 3.1, DOI begins tonight and will kill it in the ratings.

Jordan. 10-01-2010 02:39 PM

Not bad for a saturday wasnt BB10 getting around 1.8

*mazedsalv** 10-01-2010 02:50 PM

Last night's 2.9m was the highest Saturday episode since CBB5. In CBB5 tehre was only ONE episode to be avove 2.9m. So excluding that.... its the HIGHEST SATURDAY RATING SINCE BB7!!!

Outstanding!!

They stuck around for 8 out of 10 Cats though, and at 10pm though there isn't the competition from Jonathan Ross, which is BB's main competition in the 10.35pm slot and pulled a million or so viewers away from C4.

But you're just assuming everyone who watched BB watched 8 out of 10 Cats which I doubt is true

Gavin 10-01-2010 10:07 PM

BB needs to improve their editorial content if they want to reach acceptable levels again. I believe this is still their least watched CBB series ever.

They need to dedicate more time to the interesting housemates like Stephen, and stop showing all the showmance rubbish. Also they need to inject energy into the production by having better tasks.

Live feed, of course, is sorely missed as well.

Nope its not, judging by CBB6 one week on at the same time of now, the series was averaging 3.3m, this series is averaging 3.6m so far, a 300,000 increase.

Its well above the BB10, which is great... :) its the first time since BB7 we havnt seen a decline, but an increase from one series to another.

Gavin 10-01-2010 10:13 PM

^ Well, that's interesting to hear. Is it not possible that the snow is contributing to CBB7's higher ratings rather than the actual content of the show attracting more viewers?

BB7 was down on CBB4, CBB4 is the last time we saw an increase

Is it not possible that the show is getting better ratings on its own merit? The snow probably isn't affecting TV anymore.

Not sure. I generally think its actually the housemates. There is a mix in there, we were saying, me included that the lineup was bad before they went in, however their are people that people are interested in. Eg. My age group, Sov, Jonas and Vinnie. Older age groups, Stephanie, Ivana and Vinnie.

We will see what happens when the snow dissapears... if that is to happen before CBB7 ends that is.

I was on facebook tonight and was quite suprised by the amount of people putting BB related stuff on their status, when during BB9, CBB6 and BB10, never happened.

My sister is enjoying it this year too, she didnt like BB10 or CBB6.

Clearly there's more people watching TV and nearly all programmes are getting boosts. I read that Coronation Street got 11 million the other day, even though a year ago it was getting 10 million.

So that's why I think it's not on merit.

Tom 11-01-2010 11:45 AM

Last night got 3.2m against 7.6m for Dancing on Ice ... bodes very well for this and next week with all the changing!

Davina's other show got 0.8m

Thats very good, is it with +1? Because DS says 3.2m, but they normally only do it excluding +1.

*mazedsalv** 11-01-2010 12:18 PM

Also were Frisays ratings wrong?
According to this both shows got 3.4m, much higher than the 2.6m recorded

It doesn't mention the second show so I'm just assuming thats the 9pm show

Just something to mention here, at the same point in CBB6, the official rating for the Sunday highlights was 2.9m so already well ahead of last year

It does, it says Ivana Trump entrance seen by 3.4m... and then says, "the eralier show was seen by 3.4m (conbined together), indicating both we seen as 3.4m. But according to other sites, Ivana Trumps entrance was seen by 2.6m.

And yep its already 300,000 ahead of the Sunday episode, and its only the overnights!! we could be about 600,000 over when the officials come up.

biglover 11-01-2010 04:34 PM

This series is doing quite well for BB and great for C4, I hope it continues and grows in viewers, it deserves it. x

*mazedsalv** 11-01-2010 05:28 PM

RATINGS ERROR.
Fridays ratings:

1st show- 3.4m
2nd show- 3.6m

Jords 11-01-2010 05:30 PM

Very nice!

*mazedsalv** 11-01-2010 05:33 PM

That is incredible. The officials could even push that to 4m as the show finished 5 mins early on Friday.

Tom 11-01-2010 06:01 PM

thats brilliant- it pushes the week 1 overnight average to 3.7m. The week 1 official average for CBB6 was 3.7m so this year is already ahead. I think even with the upcoming schedule changes this year will probably beat CBB6 as well as BB10!

Patrick 11-01-2010 07:23 PM

BB in trouble tonight?

It clashes with that new American Drama on E4 'Glee'

And they have advertised it like **** over the past few weeks, I want to watch but it clashes with BB.

Dont know why C4 Would do that?
Put BB head to head with another E4 Drama?

Stupid move, so Glee will probley get alot of ratings as E4 and C4 have shut up about it for weeks.

Isnt Glee only on for an hour? BB starts at 10pm right?
Also Glee wont harm it that much, its on E4, it will get about 1.2m viewers i reckon.

Glee is on a double bill so the second episode clashes with BB.

Alright :)
Is E4 Not that watched then?

BB CH didnt get that much ratings because it was on E4 I heard.

BGT-FAN! 11-01-2010 07:51 PM

This is gunna sound stupid, but how do they find out how many people watch each prgramme

Spike 11-01-2010 07:53 PM

Fantastic figures for the weekend episodes, it will be interesting how ratings go once it starts getting messed around with
I think Glee is a good bit of competition for Big Brother tonight, I imagine the cross over in audience will be quite large. Silly decision to put these shows against eachother

President 11-01-2010 09:13 PM

I think Glee's going to put a major dent into CBB tonight. My prediction for tonight is 2.7m.

Big Brother Fan 11-01-2010 10:13 PM

A good amount of people have Sky plus now, my sister recorded Glee and watched BB

Tom 11-01-2010 10:30 PM

Glee won't affect BB that much, Celeb BB has many more older people watching (hence higher Saturday ratings) than summer BB. Although we all watch both summer and Celeb BB, the average viewer will watch one or the other. Its why this years CBB launched with a massive audience almost unscathed by the failure of BB10.

Where do you get these ratings from? It didn't have 21%. It had a 15.5% share on Channel 4 according to most sources.
